It is well known that the vast majority of women with early breast cancer are hormone receptor positive, HER2 receptor negative. In general early-stage breast cancer women are treated with chemotherapy and hormonal therapy after surgery. Oncotype DX, developed by Genomic Health, is a diagnostic assay that quantifies the likelihood of disease recurrence in women with early-stage hormone receptor (ER/PR) positive, HER2 negative (prognostic significance) and assesses the likely benefit from certain types of chemotherapy (predictive significance).
