Over 100 vintage cars joined the Parade from Jbeil to Amchit amidst thousands of spectators
Beirut, September 21, 2015:- The municipalities of Byblos and Amchit in collaboration with Collection Cars Parade, an NGO dedicated to classic car lovers, hosted the 2nd Annual Collection Cars Parade in Byblos and Amchit on September 12 and 13. With over 100 unique classic cars participating, the Parade succeeded in attracting thousands of spectators and enthusiasts from all over Lebanon bringing the excitement of vintage and heritage together in an extraordinary line-up of exciting activities.
“It is immensely gratifying to see such large crowds enjoying our event. This year our Parade contributed in creating a network for car lovers and collectors to share the same passion and get a close up to over 100 classic cars.” said Jo Younan, founder of Collection Cars Parade NGO. “We were delighted this year to register exquisite classics from pioneering veterans to supercars of all makes and eras!” added Younan.
Participating cars were judged by a jury comprising of car experts and mechanic engineers. The winners are: Best Restored Car award went to Cadillac Coupe de Ville 62 - 1954 owned Wassim Chehadeh; Best Popular Car to Renault Gordini - 1957 owned by Hadi Matta; Best Sports Car to MG, MGA Convertible - 1957 owned by Eliane Hachache and Best Historical Car to Mercedes, 170 S Cabriolet Coupe Convertible - 1951, owned by Pierre Sahyoun.
“Great thanks go to each and every one who contributed to the success of the Parade this year. We proved that through passion, unity, dedication and hard work, everything is possible. We actually already started planning for the third edition with our partners, hoping the Parade will soon become among the most exciting events dedicated to collection cars in Lebanon,” concluded Younan.
Jury members included: Engineer Jack Lahoud, vice president of Amchit Municipality; Edgard Hajj, member of Jbeil Municipality, Dr. Toni Issa, CEO IPT and Member of Collection Cars Parade – NGO, Engineer Zafer Sleiman, Artist and Teacher at USEK; Rodrigue Rahi, Champion Rally of Lebanon (Group N), Barbar Zgheib, cars expert and restorer and Boghos Sakabedoyan, cars expert and restorer.
An amazing entertainment program; presented by the charismatic TV host Tony Baroud, complemented the night featuring the talented musician Habib Alberto who captivated the hearts of the audience as he played music while dangling from a high crane on top of an old car. Program also included live Jazz music, fire show, art exhibition among other activities.
The Collection Cars Parade brought the beautiful memories and stories of precious heritage to life bridging the gap between antiquity and modernity in an astonishing atmosphere. Thousands of spectators gathered at the historic Byblos Port and followed the Parade as it took its way towards Amchit Corniche.
The two-day event kicked off on Saturday September 12th at the Byblos Old Port at 6pm with a wide array of activities that blended history with passion. The participating cars were displayed at the stunning Old Roman Port in Byblos. On day 2, the Parade geared up at 5pm from Byblos towards General Michel Sleiman Corniche in Amchit accompanied by cheerleaders, Harley Davidson convoy and Mariachis. أكثر من مئة سيارة نادرة أغنت موكب السّيارات الكلاسيكية هذا العام
من جبيل إلى عمشيت وسط صيحات الجماهير
بيروت، في 21أيلول 2015–إستضافت بلديتا جبيل وعمشيت بالتعاون مع "كولكشن كارز باراد"، وهي منظمة غير حكومية تكرّس نشاطاتها لمحبّي السيارات الكلاسيكية،النسخة الثانية من "موكب السيارات الكلاسيكية"في عمشيت وجبيل يومي 12و13أيلول الجاري. وتحلّق آلاف عشاق السيارات من مختلف المناطق اللبنانية حول الموكب الذي ضمّ أكثر من مئة سيارة كلاسيكية فريدة من نوعها ضمن باقة نشاطات استثنائية جمعت الأصالة والتراث.
وحول الموضوع، قال جو يونان، مؤسس "كولكشن كارز باراد": "إنه لشعور يثلج الصدر مشاهدة الحشود تستمتع بفعاليات الحدث. فقد ساهم موكب السيارات الكلاسيكية هذا العام في استحداث منصة تواصل جمعت محبي السيارات وهواة اقتنائها ليتشاركوا الشغف ويستكشفوا عن كثب مئة سيارة كلاسيكية"، مضيفاً: "سررنا باشتراك سيارات من عدة علامات تجارية عريقة وتنتمي لمختلف حقبات التصنيع".
وقد أشرفت لجنة تحكيم ضمّت خبراء ومهندسين ميكانيكيين على تقييم السيارات المشاركة. أما الجوائز فتوزّعت على عدة فئات منها جائزة أفضل سيارة مرمّمة حازت عليها سيارة "Cadillac Coupe de Ville 62"لصاحبها وسيم شحاده، وجائزة أكثر سيارة شعبية فازت بها سيارة " Renault Gordini–1957"لصاحبها هادي متّى، وجائزة "أفضل سيارة رياضية"كانت من نصيب سيارة "MG, MGA Convertible –1957"لصاحبتها إليان حشاش، وجائزة أفضل سيارة تاريخية نالتها سيارة " Mercedes, 170S Cabriolet Coupe Convertible–1951"لصاحبها بيار صهيون.
وتابع يونان: "نشكر كلّ من ساهم في إنجاح الحدث هذا العام الذي أثبت أن التكاتف والعمل بإخلاص وشغف لا بد أن يحقق الهدف مهما كان مستحيلاً. واستناداً لنجاح النسختين الأولى والثانية، نحن اليوم في طور إعداد النسخة الثالثة من هذا المهرجان مع شركائنا، آملين أن يرسّخ مكانة مرموقة له ضمن سلسلة الأحداث المخصّصة للسيارات الكلاسيكية في لبنان".
أمّا لجنة التحكيم فضمت نائب رئيس بلدية عمشيت المهندس جاك لحّود، وعضو بلدية جبيل إدغار الحاج، والرئيس التنفيذي لشركة "أي.بي.تي"وعضو جمعية "كولكشن كارز باراد"الدكتور طوني عيسى، والمهندس ظافر سليمان-الفنان والأستاذ المحاضر في جامعة الروح القدس الكسليك، وبطل رالي لبنان وعضو (Group N)رودريك راعي، وخبيرَي ومرمّمي السيارات الكلاسيكية زغيب بربر وبوغوس ساكابدويان.
يذكر أن النسخة الثانية من موكب السيارات الكلاسيكية ضمّت برنامجاً متنوّعاً من الفعاليات أبرزها الموكب الذي انطلق من ميناء جبيل التاريخي باتجاه عمشيت ورافقه مئات المشاهدين في مسيرته. ثم استكمل الحدث برنامج ترفيهي قدّمه الإعلامي الرياضي طوني بارود، ضمن أمسية زينها الموسيقي الموهوب حبيب ألبرتو الذي أذاب قلوب الحاضرين بعزفه وهو يعتلي سطح سيارة كلاسيكية معلّقة بين السماء والأرض على متن رافعة. كما تضمّن البرنامج مقاطع من الجاز، وألعاب نارية وبهلاونية، ومعرضاً فنياً إضافة إلى نشاطات ترفيهية أخرى. كان مهرجاناً أعاد إحياء ذكريات وقصص الزمن الجميل ضمن مشهد بنى الجسور لتتصالح أصالة الماضي مع حداثة اليوم في احتفالية أسرت الحواس.
تجدر الإشارة أن هذا الإحتفال الذي امتد على يومين انطلق من ميناء جبيل القديم الساعة السادسة مساءً من نهار السبت الموافق فيه 12أيلول مع باقة كبيرة من النشاطات التي جمعت بين التاريخ والشغف. وخلاله تم عرض السيارات المشاركة في الميناء الروماني القديم في جبيل. أما في اليوم الثاني، فسار الموكب حوالى الساعة الخامسة عصراً من نهار الأحد الموافق فيه 13أيلول باتجاه كورنيش الجنرال ميشال سليمان في عمشيت ورافقته فرقة من المشجّعات، وموكب دراّجات وفرقة موسيقية.
