Your chance to explore areas of Qasr al Hosn fort from February 20 – March 1, 2014Abu Dhabi [8 December, 2013]: Held under the patronage of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, the Qasr Al Hosn Festival will once again celebrate the oldest building in Abu Dhabi, which surpasses the iconic milestone of 250 years. The Qasr al Hosn festival is a historic and cultural celebration that will open its doors from February 20 to March 1, 2014 to welcome thousands of visitors following its successful first edition earlier this year.
Held in the grounds of Qasr al Hosn, the festival is an annual celebration of the Qasr al Hosn fort, the symbolic birthplace of the capital, and centuries of authentic Emirati culture and tradition. It enhances the nation’s sense of identity and honors UAE founders and visionary leadership.
The festival is held under the mandate of the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, which conserves and promotes the heritage and culture of Abu Dhabi. His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Tahnoon Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority, said: “The Qasr al Hosn Festival is an annual token of our appreciation for Abu Dhabi’s rich history and culture. Centred around our cherished historical monument. It strengthens the appreciation of Emirati heritage and identity. Every year, the Qasr al Hosn Festival will highlight and celebrate the significance of the fort and the birth of the nation’s capital and its development over more than 250 years”.
Expanding on the role of TCA, Sheikh Sultan said: “Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority has a holistic vision of culture, which embraces both tangible and intangible heritage. It is committing all its resources to the preservation of architectural and archaeological assets as well as to the development of visual and performing arts and literature and poetry to celebrate the Emirati identity. Qasr al Hosn will become a physical embodiment of this cultural manifesto.”
For the first time in several years, Qasr al Hosn Festival presents an opportunity to its visitors to explore the ancient fort as it undergoes renovation. The interior foyer will be partially open to festival visitors on guided tours and educational activities for children and youth.
Visitors will see progress on the ongoing restoration work, which is being carried out using international standards of conservation and the best practices that are used in the management of World Heritage assets.
Qasr al Hosn Festival will be a platform and an annual milestone, allowing the community to be completely associated to and engaged in the progress of Qasr al Hosn’s restoration.
Building on the success of the first festival, visitors will experience both the tangible and intangible heritage of the Emirate through a variety of inspiring activities, designed to reflect over two and a half centuries of Emirati and Abu Dhabi history. These include a world-class show reflecting themes inspired by the UAE history and context, interactive heritage and art workshops, celebrations highlighting Emirati skills and traditions, and historical tours and exhibitions.

مهرجان قصر الحصن يرحب بزواره للمرة الثانية

الإمارات العربية المتحدة، أبوظبي، 8 ديسمبر، 2013:تحت رعاية الفريق أول سمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان ولي عهد أبوظبي نائب القائد الأعلى للقوات المسلحة، تنظم هيئة أبوظبي للسياحة والثقافة، للسنة الثانية على التوالي فعاليات مهرجان قصر الحصن خلال الفترة من 20 فبراير إلى 1 مارس 2014 في أقدم معلم تاريخي في إمارة أبوظبي، وبالتحديد في منطقة قصر الحصن، وذلك احتفالاً بمرور أكثر من 250 سنة على بناء هذا الصرح التاريخي الذي يحمل بين جنباته أصالة التراث وعراقة الماضي
وسيستضيف المهرجان السنوي آلاف الزوار الذين سيطّلعون على تراث أبوظبي وملامح حقبة هامة من تاريخ المنطقة، وسيستمتعون ببرامج مميزة من الفعاليات والعروض الشيقة، وذلك بعد النجاح اللافت الذي حققه المهرجان في دورتهالأولى والتي أقيمت في بداية هذا العام.
وصرح معالي الشيخ سلطان بن طحنون آل نهيان، رئيس هيئة أبوظبي للسياحة والثقافة بمناسبة تنظيم المهرجان قائلاً: "يهدف مهرجان قصر الحصن بشكل رئيس إلى تعزيز الهوية الإماراتية ودعم ثقافتها، كما يسهم المهرجان السنوي في تعريف الزوار بالتاريخ والثقافة التي تتمتع بها أبوظبي من خلال تنظيمه في القصر الذي يعد من أقدم المعالم التاريخية في الإمارة، والذي يمثل رمزاً لنشأتها قبل أكثر من 250 سنة. كما أنه يشكل فرصة مميزة للاطلاع على أقسام معينة من القصر والتعرف على التراث الإماراتي وما يتمتع به من أهمية كبيرة وقيمة عالية".
واكد معاليهالدور الكبير لهيئة أبوظبي للسياحة والثقافة نحو إثراء الثقافة والاهتمام بتراث الدولة المادي والمعنوي، والعمل من أجل المحافظة على التراث المعماري والأثري في الإمارات، بالإضافة الى تطوير الفنون البصرية والمسرحية والآداب والشعر احتفاءً بالهوية الإماراتية. مشيرا أن المهرجان الذي سيقام في قصر الحصن يعد تجسيداً عملياً وتأكيداً لهذه النظرة تجاه الثقافة".
وسيكون المهرجان حدثاً مميزاً يمنح الزوار والحاضرين ولأول مرة فرصة نادرة للاطلاع عن كثب على أقسام معينة من مبنى قصر الحصن لاكتشاف أبعاده الجمالية والمعمارية والتاريخية. وسيحظى الحاضرون بجولات تعليمية وتثقيفية تعرفهم على أسلوب العمارة المذهل ضمن أقسام معينة في القصر، وسيطلعون على أعمال الترميم المستمرة والتي تنفذ بعناية تامة وفق أفضل المعايير الدولية والمعتمدة من إدارة لجنة التراث العالمي، كما ستقام العديد من الأنشطة الثقافية والتراثية المخصصة للأطفال والشباب.
ويهدف المهرجان بشكل رئيسي إلى تعزيز مكانة الهوية الإماراتية والقيم التي يمثلها تراث الإمارات. وبعد النجاح الكبير الذي شهده المهرجان في دورته الأولى في بداية 2013، سيشهد المهرجان تقديم عرض عالمي المستوى يتضمن مواضيع مستوحاة من تاريخ الإمارات، إضافة الى تنظيم عدد من ورش العمل والفعاليات التاريخية والثقافية، وإقامة المعارض التي ستسلط الضوء ضمن هذه الاحتفالية المميزة على المكانة الكبيرة التي يتمتع بها قصر الحصن في تاريخ أبوظبي.
