Muscat, May 16th- The world today is an interconnected, global economy, where virtually every aspect of an organization's operation is vulnerable to disruption, and the risk and cost of disruption may extend well beyond mere financial. Business Continuity Management and Emergency Response have become increasingly critical areas of competence for organizations in private as well as public sectors. Recent history has shown that no organization is immune to the threat of the external terrorist or the internal saboteur or the mismanagement or inappropriate stewardship of an organization's resources and reputation.
Supported by the Information Technology Authority, the 7th Business Continuity and Emergency Response Middle East Forum kicked off today at the Sheraton Oman Hotel in Muscat. The two-day event aims to identify, examine and integrate the diverse emergency management, crisis management, contingency planning and business continuity issues facing a private sector organization in its internal operations and interface with the government agencies and emergency management communities.
The forum brings together top business continuity and emergency response management leaders who will shed light on skills, knowledge elements and concepts applied in the context of the protecting and continuing the organizational life cycle in the face of unforeseen disruptions. The event will feature several panel discussions, group tasks, round table discussions and insightful case studies on cyber security, emergency response and recovery, enterprise risk management and integration of health, safety and environment with business continuity.
“BCM will play an important role for keeping the business in the market and being more competitive”. Said Qais Al Aamri, Business Continuity Technical Leader at Oman’s Information Technology Authority. “Organizations need to think about the (MOR) minimum operation requirement and try to use their services through social media and keep running the tests to make sure that they are ready for any event or incident”. Al Aamri added.
The approach of typical business organizations to emergency management and business continuity planning has been too narrowly focused and fragmented. Most business leaders do not fully comprehend and appreciate the inter dependence and need for collaboration between government agencies and emergency management organizations. It has now become imperative for organizations to develop an analyzed and balanced approach to emergency and business continuity management.

They are required to be in close loop not only during disasters response but right from the planning stage. انطلاق منتدى استمرارية الأعمال والاستجابة لحالات الطوارئ في مسقط
مسقط، 16 مايو -العالم اليوم هو اقتصاد عالمي مترابط، حيث كل جانب من جوانب عمليات الشركات عرضة للاضطراب، وتكلفة هذه الاضطرابات قد تمتد إلى ما هو أبعد من مجرد اضطراب مالي. فقد أصبحت إدارة استمرارية الأعمال والاستجابة لحالات الطوارئ مجالات ذات أهمية متزايدة بالنسبة للمنظمات في القطاعين الخاص والعام. وقد أظهر التاريخ الحديث أنه لا توجد منظمة محصنة ضد تهديدات الإرهابيين أو التخريب الداخلي أو سوء الإدارة أو الإشراف غير الملائم على موارد المنظمة وسمعتها.
وبدعم من هيئة تكنولوجيا المعلومات، بدأ المنتدى السابع لاستمرارية الأعمال والاستجابة لحالات الطوارئ في الشرق الأوسط اليوم في فندق شيراتون عُمان. ويهدف هذا الحدث على مدار يومين إلى تحديد وفحص إدارة حالات الطوارئ المتنوعة وإدارة الأزمات والتخطيط لحالات الطوارئ واستمرارية الأعمال التي تواجهها منظمات القطاع الخاص في عملياتها الداخلية، وتفاعلها مع الهيئات الحكومية ومجتمعات إدارة الطوارئ.
ويجمع المنتدى بين كبار قادة إدارة استمرارية الأعمال والاستجابة لحالات الطوارئوالذين بدورهم سيسلطون الضوء على المهارات والمفاهيم المطبقة في سياق حماية دورة حياة المنشئات التجارية واستمرارها في مواجهة الاضطرابات غير المتوقعة. وسيتضمن هذا الحدث العديد من حلقات النقاش ومناقشات المائدة المستديرة ودراسات حالات واقعية بشأن الأمن الالكتروني والاستجابة لحالات الطوارئ واستعادة استمرارية الأعمال وإدارة المخاطر المؤسسية ودمج الصحة والسلامة والبيئة مع استمرارية الأعمال.
وقال قيس العامري، الرئيس الفني لاستمرارية الأعمال في هيئة تكنولوجيا المعلوماتفي عمان. "سوف تلعب إدارة استمرارية الأعمال دورا هاما في الحفاظ على استمرارية وبقاء الأعمال التجارية في السوق وكونها أكثر قدرة على المنافسة". وأضاف العامري: "تحتاج الشركات للتفكير في متطلبات التشغيل الدنيا، ومحاولة استخدام خدماتها من خلال وسائل التواصل الاجتماعية والاختبارات الدورية للتأكد من أنها على استعداد لأي حدث أو حادث".
انالنهج المتبع لدى المنشئات التجارية في إدارة الطوارئ وتخطيط استمرارية الأعمال يتركز في العادة على نطاق ضيق ومحدود جدا. فمعظم الشركات لا تفهم ولا تقدر اهمية الحاجة إلى التعاون بين الهيئات الحكومية ومنظمات إدارة الطوارئ. والآن فقد أصبح من الضروري أن تضع الشركات نهجا محسنا ومتوازنا لإدارة حالات الطوارئ وإدارة استمرارية الأعمال.
وقال الكابتن وحيد خلفان الصبحي، مدير السلامة وتخطيط موارد المؤسسات في الطيران العماني، "إن صناع القرار يلعبون دورا محوريا في التخفيف من آثار الكوارث. ويطلب منهم أن يكونوا في حلقة وثيقة ليس فقط أثناء الاستجابة للكوارث ولكن بداية من مرحلة التخطيط. فبدون المشاركة الكاملة في تقييم المخاطر وتوفير الموارد المطلوبة، فإن الإدارة الفعالة للكوارث هي مجرد حلم. فالمنظمات المسؤولة والمدرائ التنفيذيين يتفهمون مدى حساسية الأمر وهم دائما متاحون لدعم فريق العمل".
من جانبه، قال جون دافيسون، المدير التنفيذي في شركة F-24 UK: "استمرارية الأعمال تتغير بشكل جذري مع المنظمات التي تتقبل عادة أن الأحداث التجارية المدمرة هي أحداث محتملة، وبالتالي فإن التركيز سيتحول إلى المرونة التشغيلية بدلا من مجرد التخطيط الاستمراري. وعلى صعيد التكنولوجيا، ستغير تقنيات انترنت الأشياء أيضا كيف يمكن للمنظمات الحصول على المعلومات التي من شأنها أن تساعد كثيرا في خطط استمرارية الأعمال، فإن البيانات التي قد استحال الوصول لها سابقا سيكون الوصول لها في المستقبل أكثر سهولة ".
