- Appointment comes at a critical time of transition towards service-led economies and agile business processes, where Cisco is playing a leading role

Beirut – 15 January 2018: Cisco today announced the appointment of Hani Raad as General Manager for its West Region in the Middle East. In his new role, Hani Raad will focus on leading Cisco’s digital transformation initiatives in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the Levant and Iraq, and will work closely with its partner ecosystem to support government and private sector customers on their digitization journeys, while helping them drive desired business outcomes.
"As part of the transition towards knowledge-driven, service-led economies, countries across the region have made digitization an urgent imperative with the aim of translating the digital opportunity into tangible socioeconomic benefits,” said David Meads, Vice President – Middle East & Africa, Cisco. “Cisco, along with our ecosystem of partners, is working closely with governments and enterprises to develop their digital roadmaps to position them for long-term prosperity in the digital age.”
According to McKinsey Global Institute’s Industry Digitization Index, several countries in the Middle East are making significant strides in the digitization surge. Economies in Qatar and Bahrain, for example, are adopting progressive digitization policies supported by widespread Internet and smartphone penetration and increased usage of social media.
“The appointment of Hani as General Manager for the West Region comes at a time when many governments across the region have drawn out national transformation programs in which maximizing their digital economic output is given high priority,” added Meads. “Hani is an experienced executive who brings a great deal of energy and commitment to this role, and I am confident that his market knowledge and depth of expertise will support our efforts as Cisco continues to play a leading role in developing the region’s digital ecosystem.”
As General Manager for the Middle East’s West Region, Hani will be responsible for overseeing Cisco’s business operations and driving its growth plans across his markets. In this expanded role, he will leverage Cisco’s growing portfolio of solutions and work to strengthen collaboration with governments and Cisco’s partner network to ensure that Cisco remains the region’s partner of choice for digitization.

Having joined Cisco over 11 years ago, Hani has a diverse 24-year background of regional ICT sector experience coupled with cross-industry exposure. He has held various executive positions in emerging markets, where he was responsible for building strategic sales strategies whilst driving the message on the need to prioritize the digital agenda to support emerging country innovation, prosperity and social inclusion.
Countries in the West Region have already taken strides in driving economic growth by stimulating innovation and knowledge spill overs. As part of its Qatar Smart Program, the Qatari government has embarked on a Digital Cluster Strategy to form alliances with other global digital hubs and foster startup partnerships internationally. Bahrain continues to lead the region in global rankings for e-government development (United Nations eGovernment Survey) and ICT use, and is in the world’s top 30 for networked readiness (World Economic Forum). Meanwhile, Kuwait has been one of the top movers in WEF’s Networked Readiness Index, with substantial improvements in ICT usage and impact, largely driven by high business and individual adoption levels and aligned with its New Kuwait 2035 Vision’s plan for transforming itself into a digital society and economy.
Gartner estimates that Middle East governments will spend $11.6 billion on IT products and services in 2017. In particular, the growing adoption and expansion of smart cities, e-services, artificial intelligence and automation bodes well for their drive to reduce costs and drive competitiveness, particularly in the region’s large energy and construction sectors, where an estimated 40% of tasks can be automated.

بيروت – 15 كانون الثاني 2018:أعلنت سيسكو اليوم عن تعيين هاني رعد مديراً عاماً للمنطقة الغربية في الشرق الأوسط. ومن خلال منصبه الجديد، يركّز رعد على قيادة مبادرات سيسكو للتحول الرقمي في الكويت والبحرين وقطر وبلاد الشام والعراق، فيما يعمل بالتعاون مع منظومة الشركاء لدعم العملاء من الحكومات والقطاع الخاص في مسيرة الرقمنة لمساعدتهم على تحقيق نتائج الأعمال المرجوة.
وفي هذه المناسبة قال ديفيد ميدز، نائب الرئيس لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وإفريقيا لدى سيسكو: "ضمن جهود التحول نحو اقتصاديات تقوم على المعرفة وتستند إلى الخدمات، وضعت دول المنطقة الرقمنة ضمن أبرز أولوياتها بهدف ترجمة تلك الفرص الرقمية إلى فوائد ملموسة على الصعيدين الاجتماعي والاقتصادي. تعمل سيسكو ومنظومةشركائها بالتعاون مع الحكومات والمؤسسات لترجمة خارطة الطريق الرقمية لكل منها بشكل يمكّنها من تحقيق الازدهار طويل الأمد في الحقبة الرقمية."
وبحسب مؤشر التحول الرقمي في القطاعات، والصادر عن معهد ماكنزي العالمي، تحقق العديد من دول الشرق الأوسط إنجازات بارزة في مجال الرقمنة، حيث تتبنى اقتصاديات البحرين وقطر، على سبيل المثال، سياسات تقدمية للرقمنة يدعمها انتشار الإنترنت واستخدام الهواتف الذكية وارتفاع مستوى استخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي.

وبصفته مديراً عاماً للمنطقة الغربية في الشرق الأوسط، يتولى هاني مسؤولية الإشراف على عمليات الأعمال وقيادة تنفيذ خطط النمو في أسواق تلك المنطقة. كما يستفيد في عمله من المجموعة المتنامية من حلول سيسكو ليعمل على ترسيخ التعاون مع الحكومات وشبكة شركاء سيسكو لضمان بقائها الشريك الأمثل للتحول الرقمي في المنطقة.

انضم هاني إلى سيسكو قبل أكثر من 11 عاماً، ويتمتع بخبرة متنوعة امتدت 24 عاماً في قطاع الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات بالمنطقة إلى جانب معرفة واسعة بقطاعات مختلفة. تولى هاني عدداً من المناصب التنفيذية في الأسواق الناشئة، حيث اضطلع بمسؤولية وضع استراتيجيات المبيعات وإيصال الرسالة المتعلقة بأولوية جدول الأعمال الرقمي بهدف دعم الابتكار والازدهار والشمول الاجتماعي في الدول الناشئة.
تجدر الإشارة إلى أن دول المنطقة الغربية حققت خطوات كبيرة بالفعل في دعم النمو الاقتصادي عبر تحفيز الابتكار ودعم تبادل المعرفة. فمن خلال برنامج قطر الذكية، تعمل الدولة على تنفيذ استراتيجية للتجمعات الرقمية بهدف إقامة التحالفات مع المراكز الرقمية العالمية ورعاية الشراكات الناشئة حول العالم. أما البحرين فتواصل صدارة المنطقة في التصنيفات العالمية لتطور الحكومات الإلكترونية (استبيان الأمم المتحدة للحكومات الإلكترونية) واستخدام الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات، كما أنها مصنفة بين أعلى 30 دولة في العالم من حيث مؤشر الجاهزية الشبكية (المنتدى الاقتصادي العالمي). وفي الوقت ذاته حققت الكويت تحسناً كبيراً في تصنيفها ضمن مؤشر الجاهزية الشبكية الصادر عن المنتدى الاقتصادي العالمي، بفضل إنجازات هائلة لتحسين أثر واستخدام الاتصالات وتقنية المعلومات، مدعومة بشكل رئيسي بارتفاع مستويات استخدامها على مستوى الأفراد والشركات تماشياً مع الخطة الجديدة لرؤية الكويت 2035 للتحول إلى مجتمع واقتصاد رقمي.
كما تشير تقديرات "غارتنر"إلى أن حكومات الشرق الأوسط ستنفق 11.6 مليار دولار على منتجات وخدمات تقنية المعلومات في العام 2017. وبالأخص، يبشر ازدياد تبني وتوسع المدن الذكية والخدمات الإلكترونية والذكاء الصناعي ووسائل الأتمتة بدعم جهودها وتطلعاتها نحو تقليل التكاليف وتعزيز التنافسية – بخاصة في القطاعات الإقليميةالأساسية مثل الطاقة والإنشاءات التي يمكن أتمتة حوالي %40 من المهام فيها حسب التقديرات.
