ENPARK JOINS GREEN ECONOMY PARTNERSHIP DELEGATION IN VISIT TO CANADA TO SUPPORT DUBAI’S VISION TO BECOME A GREEN ECONOMY

Dubai, UAE:A delegation from the Green Economy Partnership visited the GLOBE conference in Vancouver Canada to meet with senior international business and government representatives and discuss how to advance the issues at the heart of global business and sustainability agenda. This visit was in line with the “Green Economy for Sustainable Development” initiative, launched by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, supporting the vision to ensure Dubai becomes a global gateway of investment and green trade.

Globe is a not-for-profit business foundation that aims to promote the business case for sustainable development demonstrating how environmental challenges bring enormous opportunity for the business sector without sacrificing the bottom line. Similarly, ENPARK, a member of TECOM Investments and a free zone dedicated to fostering the growth of the alternative energy and environmental industries in Dubai is a key strategic member of the Green Economy Partnership due to its role in providing a home for companies dedicated to providing green products, solutions and technologies.

ENPARK is a key member of the Green Economy Partnership, a committee that aims to create new commercial opportunities by facilitating smooth adoption of technological solutions with economic and ecological proven feasibility and economic use of resources and conservation of the environment and natural resources.

The delegation visiting the GLOBE conference included; Mr. Waleed Salman, Chairman of Dubai Green Economy Partnership and Executive Vice President for Strategy & Business Development, DEWA, Mr.  Fahad Al Gergawi, Secretary General, Dubai Green Economy Partnership & CEO, Dubai FDI, Mr. Taher Diab, Director of Strategy and Planning, Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Marwan Abdulaziz, Executive Director of ENPARK a member of TECOM Investments and Soliman Al Rifai Director of Project Finance, Dubai Carbon Centre of Excellence.

During their visit, the GEP delegation presented to top government and business leaders about Dubai’s progress towards becoming a sustainable green economy, a smart city and a global gateway for green trade and investment and the latest opportunities arising from Dubai’s strategic commitment to green economic growth, public, private partnerships, solar projects and sustainable transport and smart government.

The visit comes just before the World Green Economy Summit 2014, which will take place on 15-16 April, 2014, in conjunction with the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX 2014).
 GEP is a key partner of the Summit that aims to promote the global position of Dubai, and provide a platform for leaders and experts to discuss the strategies, policies and plans for the green economy and explore its potential in the region.
