AUC VENTURE LAB CELEBRATES THE GRADUATION OF SHELL CYCLE 9 ON DEMO DAY SHOWCASING PRODUCTS AND SERVICES OF 12 STARTUPS

December 7, 2017, Cairo – The Venture Lab (V-Lab) at The American University in Cairo (AUC)’s School of Business celebrated yesterday the graduation of the Shell Cycle 9 of the V-Lab, where 12 incubated startups showcased their products and services. “This year, the strategic partnership between Shell Intilaaqah Egypt and AUC Venture Lab will streamline exchanges between both programs, which share the same aspiration to achieve maximum positive impact on the lives of young Egyptian entrepreneurs; the fruitful partnerships that contribute to national economic development,” said engineer Gasser Hanter, Egypt VP and Country Chairman of Shell.
Ayman Ismail, director of AUC V-Lab, Abdul Latif Jameel endowed chair of entrepreneurship and assistant professor, said, It’s always a pleasure celebrating our startups’ hard work. This demo day marks the end of our ninth cycle and we are very happy to be graduating eager entrepreneurs with fresh innovative ideas, and the necessary knowledge and skills to launch them.”

In Shell Cycle 9, AUC Venture Lab incubated 12 startups: Furvive; Surv; Smartly.Fit; Nozol; Takestep; Beitify; Rology; En2el; WiRE Microsystems; Jinni; Roshetta and Vapulus.

AUC Venture Lab is Egypt’s first university-based incubator and accelerator. The lab enables startups to capitalize on AUC’s intellectual capital, world-class facilities and research capacities. It connects innovative startups with AUC’s network that includes alumni, faculty, mentors and investors. Through this, it fosters a thriving ecosystem of innovation, education and responsible business. The mission of the AUC Venture Lab is to help Egyptian startups commercialize their innovative technologies and business models into viable ventures that contribute to economic growth, competitiveness and job creation; and to provide a learning and research platform for the AUC community to connect with entrepreneurs.

On the Demo Day of V-Lab, startups presented their work and were evaluated based on milestones achieved during incubation.

Structuring operating systems, designing and coding advanced system recovery solutions, WiRE Microsystems, which is a generic software startup company, is one of the 12 startups that presented their work on Demo Day. "Before joining AUC Venture Lab, we had the technology that can make people's life better and easier by providing XMACHINE, our first product, which is the world's fastest and most efficient solution for recovery software. But, we made many mistakes turning it to a business, which is clearly a bigger challenge than having the technology itself,” said Mahmoud Saad, founder of WiRE Microsystems. “After joining AUC Venture Lab, we now have a clear vision of the commercial layout of our products and services with a clear business model and value proposition designed to address many critical factors that we haven’t even noticed before,” he said.

Saad explained that through the V-Lab’s guidance and mentorship, their startup’s customer model has vastly improved, “The V-Lab team has been available through every step of the way, they have inspired us to improve our technologies and basically shaped the business side for WiRE Microsystems.”

Another startup aiming to improve businesses is Surv, which is an app that bridges the gap between customers and business owners. Through Surv, customers’ complaints and suggestions are compiled and reported directly to the registered business owner.

For the first time in AUC Venture Lab cycles, a startup, Takestep, tackles addiction. Based on the principles of the recovery stages program, Takestep provides patients, practitioners and guardians with the first socio-medical integrated web and mobile platform that connects them with one another and empowers them to take control of the recovery process.

As for Smartly.Fit, it is a technology and service provider for gyms, which provides hardware that transforms existing strength training equipment into smartly connected machines to automatically track workout activities and send all collected data to a cloud server.

Rology is an on-demand teleradiology platform that connects patients with radiologists. Through Rology, patients can upload their CT-scans, MRIs and X-rays in quick and easy steps to communicate with radiologists on the platform.  

To help patients get easier access to medicine, Roshetta, an online platform, connects patients and customers to the nearest pharmacy, where users can either order the needed medicine directly or scan a prescription.

Nozol, a real estate CRM platform for developers and brokers, allows clients to manage their prospective pipeline and share real estate supply and demand on the startup’s website.

Another startup that showcased its work in Demo Day is Beitify, which connects users who want to furnish their home with the top furnishing providers in Egypt, through an app and website. It allows furnishing stores to create and modify their own accounts with their updated inventory for customers to view.

As for Furvive, it is an online furniture store, which designs and delivers size-friendly and smart furniture to customers' doorsteps.

With the aim of reducing time and efforts in transportation, En2el is a land transport logistics platform that empowers customers and cargo service providers with technology tools and operational expertise, while maximizing the utilization of the operating trucks.

Vapulus is an app that enables easy online payment. Users only need to have a username and a smart phone to be able to send and receive payments and transfer money.

Alaa Shams, the co-founder of Jinni, whichprovides high quality cleaning services by hiring well trained and trustworthy cleaning professionals to home residents, movers and businesses, said, "AUC Venture Lab program helped us see the bigger picture, know what we were missing and the areas we needed to improve. At the V-Lab, we were lucky to be part of a big entrepreneurial family, have access to a large network of professionals and mentors, work side by side with talented like-minded entrepreneurs and share our experiences. All this helped us learn so much from each other and enabled us to grow."

AUC STUDENTS TO HOLD A COMPETITION ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT OF SINAI

The student-run Model of the Council of Ministers (MCM) organization at The American University in Cairo (AUC) will hold the closing ceremony of MCM Annual Governance and Policy Case Study competition that will be on the development of the Sinai Peninsula. The competition will be held among AUC student teams where they will present their proposals to a panel of Egyptian officials and AUC professors. Winning teams will receive a total of 12 internships at several Egyptian ministries, including the Ministry of Investment, Ministry of Planning, Ministry of Social Solidarity and Ministry of Higher education.

Gartner Says Top Five Smartphone Vendors Achieved Growth in the Third Quarter of 2017

Xiaomi Exhibited Best Performance of the Quarter 
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – 11 December 2017 — Global sales of smartphones to end users totaled 383 million units in the third quarter of 2017, a 3 percent increase over the same period in 2016, according to Gartner, Inc. All of the top five smartphone vendors achieved double-digit growth apart from Apple, which achieved a 5.7 percent increase.
"Despite market weakness in China, sales of smartphones rose in the third quarter of 2017 (see Table 1)," said Anshul Gupta, research director at Gartner. “Emerging Asia/Pacific (15 percent increase) and North America (11.2 percent increase) drove the smartphone growth in the quarter.”
"In emerging Asia Pacific, both Samsung and Huawei saw healthy demand as along with Xiaomi and Vivo, which were able to grow their footprint outside their home markets," added Mr. Gupta. "In North America, Samsung was the driving force in the quarter due to its new flagship products." 
Samsung’s smartphone sales recorded a double-digit increase (19.3 percent) in the third quarter of 2017. "Renewed pushes of the newly designed Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note 8 smartphones have brought back growing demand for Samsung smartphones, which helped it compete against Chinese manufacturers and deliver a solid performance in the quarter," said Mr. Gupta. "“The last time Samsung achieved a double-digit growth was in the fourth quarter of 2015."
Apple's sales grew 5.7 percent year over year. Apple returned to growth in China and also saw strong sales in many of the emerging markets, including India. This is due to the continued sales of legacy iPhones, including the iPhone 5S which retails at around $240 street price in most markets.

Xiaomi achieved the strongest growth, exhibiting an 80 percent increase in the third quarter of 2017. Xiaomi's growth came more from international markets than from China, where it faces strong competition from Huawei, Oppo and Vivo. India continues to be the biggest and highest-growth market for Xiaomi outside China, but growing sales from Latin America and Russia are also boosting its sales.
Greater China exhibited a decline of 11 percent in the third quarter due to consolidation around local and lesser-known brands (see Table 2). Buyers are preferring known and high-priced smartphones, which is cannibalizing demand of budget smartphones from local brands. In Western Europe and North America, demand for premium smartphones from top brands led to smartphone sales growth in the third quarter.

Leading Chinese manufacturers Oppo, Huawei, Vivo and Xiaomi continued to drive sales across emerging markets, led by their midprice and budget smartphones with a focus on 4G connectivity and better cameras.
"The arrival of Apple's new flagship iPhones at the end of the third quarter of 2017 has delayed smartphone purchases into the fourth quarter of 2017," said Mr. Gupta. "Following compelling offers on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the holiday season will likely boost sales of smartphones before the end of the year. We estimate the fourth quarter’s smartphone sales will boost total sales for the full year. We expect smartphone sales will reach 1.57 billion units in 2017," concluded Mr. Gupta.

Smart Dubai and Majid Al Futtaim Sign MOU

MOU will include collaboration around data enrichment, policies and standards, education, and emerging innovative technologies

[UAE, December, 11, 2017]: Smart Dubai and Majid Al Futtaim today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate in areas that will help to enhance the Emirate’s data and analytics capabilities. The agreement has been developed in line with the government’s vision to empower, deliver and promote an efficient, seamless, safe and impactful city experience for residents making Dubai the smartest and happiest city on earth.

The MOU was signed by Dr Aisha Bin Bishr, Director-General of the Smart Dubai Office and Alain Bejjani, Chief Executive Officer at Majid Al Futtaim – Holding at a signing ceremony held in Dubai.

As part of the MOU, Majid Al Futtaim will collaborate with Smart Dubai in four critical areas: data enrichment, policy, education, and innovative technology. Both organisations will work together to enhance and improve raw data, while finding ways to make data a more valuable asset.

Smart Dubai and Majid Al Futtaim will develop joint education workshops to ensure increased understanding and capabilities and to identify and apply best practices. The MOU will allow both organisations to explore opportunities in emerging technologies such as Blockchain Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things. Collaboration will also take place on innovative platforms used to source, collect, analyse and store data.

Dr Aisha Bint Butti Bin Bishr, Director-General of the Smart Dubai Office (SDO) said: “As the government body tasked with spearheading Dubai’s smart transformation, Smart Dubai has led the efforts to develop an unprecedented smart and connected lifestyle for the city’s residents and visitors. With numerous data-driven smart projects and initiatives, we have been able to accumulate a significant digital wealth to upgrade the emirate’s economic system and transform Dubai into the happiest and smartest city on earth.”

Dr Aisha added.

دبي، الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 11 ديسمبر 2017: أبرمت «دبي الذكية» وشركة «ماجد الفطيم» اليوم مذكرة تفاهم بهدف التعاون في المجالات التي تساعد على تحسين القدرات التي تتمتع بها إمارة دبي في مجال إدارة البيانات وتحليلاتها. وجرى الإعداد لاتفاقية مذكرة التفاهم بما يتماشى مع التوجه الحكومي الرامي إلى الارتقاء بسبل الحياة الكريمة والآمنة لسكان دبي وزوارها، والتحوّل بدبي لتصبح المدينة الأذكى والأسعد على وجه الأرض.

وقد وقع مذكرة التفاهم كل من الدكتورة عائشة بنت بطي بن بشر المدير العام لمكتب دبي الذكية، والسيد آلان بجاني الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة ماجد الفطيم القابضة. وبموجب هذه المذكرة، سيتم التعاون بين الطرفين في أربعة مجالات حيوية تتضمن إثراء البيانات، ورسم السياسات وتحديد المعايير، والتوعية بأهمية إدارة البيانات وتحليلاتها، والاستفادة من تقنيات الابتكار الناشئة. وتعتزم الجهتان مضافرة الجهود بُغية تحسين سبل الاستفادة من البيانات في صورتها الأولى المجردة، والوصول إلى جعلها جزءاً من الأصول الحيوية المهمة للإمارة.

كما سيعقد الطرفان وفقاً لمذكرة التفاهم، ورش عمل تعريفية توعوية، لضمان رفع الوعي بالإمكانيات التي تنطوي عليها الإدارة السليمة للبيانات وتحليلاتها، فضلاً عن تعريف أفضل الممارسات وضمان اتباعها، فيما يمكن للجانبين، بحسب المذكرة، النظر في الفرص التي تتيحها التقنيات الناشئة ذات الصلة بالبيانات، مثل "بلوك تشين"، والذكاء الاصطناعي، وإنترنت الأشياء، والتعاون في سبيل الحصول على البيانات وجمعها وتحليلها وحفظها من خلال المنصات الإبداعية المستخدمة في هذا المجال.

وقالت سعادة الدكتورة عائشة بنت بطي بن بشر، "بصفتها الجهة الحكومية المكلفة بقيادة التحول الذكي لإمارة دبي، عززت دبي الذكية جهودها الرامية إلى بناء نمط حياة ذكي ومتطور لم يسبق له مثيل، ومن خلال ذلك تمكنت من جمع ثروة رقمية كبيرة ساهمت بتطوير النظام الاقتصادي للإمارة، بشكل يواكب تحقيق هدفها الأسمى وهو تحويل دبي إلى أسعد وأذكى مدينة على مستوى العالم".

December 10, 2017 – DuPont Sustainable Solutions (DSS) has been ranked as the top EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) consulting brand for brand preference according to a new survey released in November by the independent research and consulting firm Verdantix. The survey of more than 380 senior corporate EHS decision-makers gave DSS top marks for both preference and awareness among all EHS consulting brands.

Responders also gave DSS the highest rank for brand preference (32 percent) calling DSS’ capabilities “market-leading” or “strong,” higher than any other EHS consultant in the market.

The Verdantix survey was completed by 382 senior EHS decision-makers with direct responsibilities for corporatewide EHS management strategies and initiatives across 31 countries. All the respondents are from corporations with revenues of at least $250 million among 25 different industries. Thirty percent of respondents represent industries with high to very high EHS risk profiles including chemicals, mining and metals, and oil and gas. The announcement was made during a press conference held by Dr. Al Kaabi at the St. Regis Hotel, Abu Dhabi, by which he gave an overview of the forum’s fourth edition’s agenda.
HE Dr. Al Kaabi welcomed the attending journalists and media figures. "On behalf of HE Shaykh Abdallah Bin Bayyah, President of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies and team members, allow me to welcome you to this alliance of peace, tolerance, fraternity and coexistence. This approach was first established by HH The Late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and followed by HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; HH Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, Ruler of Dubai; and HH Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and their brothers, Rulers of the Emirates," he said.
Al Kaabi commended the efforts exerted by the media and noted, "We take pride in your work and count on your diligent efforts and professional dedication to convey the Forum’s core statement, in line with your noble role. Trust, honesty, and transparency are key tenets of the media; and in this day and age, with the prevalence of radicalism and extremism in our region, you bear a double responsibility."
"Since its inception in 2014, the Forum has been a call for peace. It endeavored in its first edition on promoting the culture of peace and preventing extremist ideologies. In its second edition, the forum called for updating the Islamic discourse to eschew and counter extremism; while the third edition discussed the legitimacy of the Nation State in Muslim Societies.  In this year’s edition of the forum, we will tackle the theme ‘Global Peace and the Fear of Islam’,” he added.
The three-day event shall take place from 11-13 December 2017, at the St. Regis Hotel, Abu Dhabi, will see the participation of more than 700 Arab and Muslim scholars, alongside an elite of high-level intellectual and religious dignitaries from around the world, representing the different intellectual, religious and cultural trends.
50 work papers will be presented in four key topics, and nine workshops will be organized to discuss the topics in a scientific and logical method.
On the second day of the Forum, names of winners will be announced in the annual Imam al-Hasan bin Ali Peace Award, presented annually by the forum to individuals, institutions or associations with recognized contributions to promote peace and tolerance.
Countering Extremism
Dr. Al Kaabi indicated that the Forum will tackle Global Peace and the Fear of Islam: Countering the Spread of Extremism. “With the prevalence of Islamophobia in western societies, which undermines confidence among Muslim minorities, encourages the hate speech, and increases accusations that suggest that "Islam is against Peace", there is a need to counter these allegations with scientific proof and highlighting Islam’s vision of global peace,” he said.
The first topic will discuss Religion, Identity and Global Peace with two main themes: International Climate for Global Peace and Regional Climate for Global Peace. There will also be three workshops namely; ‘Religion and Violence’; ‘Identities and Global Peace’; and ‘Islam and Global Peace requirements’.
The second topic will discuss The Fear of Islam: Causes and Contexts, with two themes, notably; ‘Fear from Islam from a Western Perspective’ and ‘Fear from Islam from the Muslim Minorities Perspective’. Three workshops will discuss ‘Islamophobia and New Islamophobia’; ’Islamophobia and new Populism’, and ‘Islamophobia, Media and Means of Communication’.
The Third topic will discuss ‘Islam and the World – An Islamic Vision of Global Peace’, which will focus on the vision of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, and the forum’s contributions to global peace.
The Fourth topic will discuss ‘Islam and The World – Ways to Rapprochement and Solidarity’.
The Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies aims to brainstorm ideas and collect experiences of a global elite to provide a scientific and objective analysis of the root causes of mutual concerns between Muslims themselves and the wider society. it also aims to come up with new theoretical approaches and applicable outcomes that support the efforts to promote global peace, tolerance and love between humans: “O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another.”

أبوظبي الإمارات العربية المتحدة، 9 ديسمبر 2017، ("ايتوس واير"):كشف سعادة الدكتور محمد مطر الكعبي أمين عام "منتدى تعزيز السلم في المجتمعات المسلمة"، رئيس هيئة العامة للشؤون الإسلامية والأوقاف، عزم المنتدى في تقديم رؤية إسلامية معاصرة عن مفهوم السلم العالمي. هذا بالإضافة إلى تقديم إسهامات الإسلام في السلم العالمي.
جاء ذلك خلال مؤتمر صحافي عقده في فندق (سانت ريجس – أبوظبي)، كشف خلاله عن أعمال الملتقى الرابع لمنتدى تعزيز السلم. واستهله مرحباً بالإعلاميين، قائلاً:
اسمحوا لي باسم معالي الشيخ عبد الله بن بيه، رئيس "منتدى تعزيز السلم في المجتمعات المسلمة"وفريق المنتدى، أن أرحب بكم في أجواء التسامح والسلام، وعبق الأخوة والوئام، الذي هو نهج راسخ في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، أرساه القادة المؤسسون، بقيادة المغفور له الشيخ زايد بن سلطان آل نهيان، ويمضي على هديه صاحب السمو الشيخ خليفة بن زايد آل نهيان، رئيس الدولة، وصاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، نائب رئيس الدولة، رئيس مجلس الوزراء، حاكم دبي، وصاحب السمو الشيخ محمد بن زايد آل نهيان، ولي عهد أبو ظبي، نائب القائد العام للقوات المسلحة، وإخوانهم حكام الإمارات (حفظهم الله أجمعين).
وأثنى الدكتور الكعبي على دور الإعلاميين قائلاً:
نبارك أقلامكم، ونعول على جهودكم، وإخلاصكم المهني والاحترافي؛ في توصيل جهود المنتدى، كما يليق بدوركم النبيل وحضوركم الكريم، فالإعلام أمانة، وصدق، وشفافية، وربما مسؤوليتكم تكون مضاعفة في هذه الأيام التي تشهدها منطقتنا؛ جراء الغلو والتطرف.
وأضاف الكعبي أن منتدى تعزيز السلم منذ انطلاقته الأولى عام 2014 هو دعوة للسلام، فركز في الملتقى الأول على تأصيل ثقافة السلم، وتصحيح المفاهيم. وفي الملتقى الثاني، أعلن مشروع تجديد الخطاب الإسلامي، وفي الملتقى الثالث، بحثنا مشروعية الدولة الوطنية في الإسلام. واليوم نناقش في الملتقى السنوي الرابع؛ موضوع "السلم العالمي والخوف من الإسلام: قطع الطريق على التطرف". ويستمر الملتقى الرابع ثلاثة أيام من 11 إلى 13 ديسمبر الجاري في (سانت ريجس – أبوظبي)، ويشارك فيه نحو سبعمائة شخصية من العلماء والمفكرين والباحثين، وممثلي الأديان ومختلف النخب الثقافية، من دولة الإمارات، والعالم العربي والإسلامي والمجتمع الدولي عموماً.
ويجري تقديم نحو خمسين ورقة عمل، من خلال أربعة محاور رئيسية، يجري بالتوازي معها، تنظيم تسع ورش علمية، تناقش كل هذه الموضوعات بمنهجيات علمية وعقلانية.
في اليوم الثاني من الملتقى، سيتم الإعلان عن الفائزين بـ"جائزة الحسن بن علي للسلم الدولية"التي يقدمها المنتدى سنوياً، لشخصية أو أكثر، أو مؤسسة أو جمعية، لها إسهامات معروفة في تعزيز السلم وترسيخ ثقافة التسامح.
قطع طريق التطرف
وأكد الدكتور الكعبي أن المنتدى في ملتقاه السنوي الرابع سوف يناقش موضوع "السلم العالمي والخوف من الإسلام - قطع الطريق أمام التطرف"؛ لأن اتساع دائرة الخوف والتخويف من الإسلام والمسلمين في المجتمعات الغربية، راح يُضعف الثقة بين الأقليات المسلمة وبين مجتمعاتها، مما يساهم بانتشار الخطاب المعادي للغرب؛ على أساس المفاصلة الدينية، وفي الوقت عينه يزيد من الأوهام التي تقول:"إن الإسلام يعادي السلم". ولا بُدَّ من مواجهة ذلك بالبحث والتأصيل، ومن ثم تقديم رؤية الإسلام الصحيحة للسلم العالمي. وسيبحث المحور الأول موضوع "الدين والهوية والسلم العالمي". ويتضمن عنوانين رئيسيين: "البيئة الدولية للسلم العالمي"و"البيئة الإقليمية للسلم العالمي". ويُنظم في إطار المحور الأول، ثلاث ورش، تبحث العناوين التالية: "الدين والعنف"، و"الهويات والسلم العالمي"، و"الإسلام ومقتضيات السلم العالمي".
 في المحور الثاني يجري بحث موضوع "الخوف من الإسلام - الأسباب والسياقات"ويتضمن هذا المحور موضوعين اثنين هما: "الخوف من الإسلام من منظور غربي"والخوف من الإسلام من منظور المسلمين في الغرب". وينظم في إطار المحور الثاني ثلاث ورش، تناقش الموضوعات التالية: "الإسلاموفوبيا والإسلاموفوبيا الجديدة""الإسلاموفوبيا والنزعات الشعوبية الجديدة""الإسلاموفوبيا والإعلام ووسائل الاتصال".
في المحور الثالث يبحث موضوع "الإسلام والعالم - رؤية إسلامية للسلم العالمي". ويتركز هذا المحور على طرح رؤية "منتدى تعزيز السلم في المجتمعات المسلمة"حول طبيعة الإسهام الذي قدمه الإسلام للسلم العالمي؛ على مستوى المقاصد والأحكام والتجربة التاريخية.
في المحور الرابع من أعمال الملتقى،  يجري بحث موضوع "الإسلام والعالم- مسارات التعارف والتضامن.
ويطمح "منتدى تعزيز السلم في المجتمعات المسلمة"أن يكون ملتقاه السنوي الرابع، فرصة لتلاقي وتلاقح أفكار وتجارب جزء من هذه النخبة؛ من أجل تحليل علمي موضوعي؛ لجذور وأسباب ومآلات المخاوف المتبادلة بين المسلمين وغيرهم من جهة، وللوصول من جهة ثانية إلى مقاربات نظرية جديدة، ومخرجات علمية تسهم في دعم جهود الحكماء والعقلاء"لخدمة السلم العالمي والتسامح والمحبة بين بني الإنسان؛ بمقتضى قوله عز وجل "يا أيها الناس إنا خلقناكم من ذكر وأنثى وجعلناكم شعوبا وقبائل لتعارفوا".

Thomson Reuters celebrates 150 years in MENA

Mrs. Heba Al Sairafi spoke about the importance of partnering with data providers to spread best practice and promote transparency. احتفلت "تومسون رويترز"، المزود العالمي للمعلومات الذكية للشركات والمحترفين، بذكرى تأسيس أول مكتب دولي لها في مدينة الإسكندرية قبل 150 سنة وذلك في حفل خاص تم تنظيمه بجانب الهرم الأكبر في الجيزة.
وحضر الحفل ممثلين حكوميين من وزارة الاقتصاد والمصرف المركزي وعدد من أعضاء البرلمان المصري وممثلة الرئيس التنفيذي للبورصة المصرية السيدة هبة الصيرفي وممثلي وسائل الإعلام المحلية والدولية.
قبل 150 سنة، كان بول جوليوس رويترز يدير وكالة من لندن قدمت المعلومات المالية والأخبار الدولية الهامة باستخدام قنوات الارسال البرقي الحديثة. في ذلك الوقت، كان الإرسال البرقي عبارة عن تكنولوجيا مذهلة وخارقة. فالمعلومات التي كان من الممكن نقلها عن طريق السكك الحديدية أو السفن أو الحمام الزاجل، أصبحت متاحة بشكل فوري للجميع حول العالم.
لقد أدخل الإرسال البرقي تحولات جذرية في الأسواق المالية والتجارية والاقتصادية آنذاك، هذا فضلاً عن تأثيرهِ الكبير في المشهد السياسي. وبحلول ستينيات القرن التاسع عشر، تحولت خطوط الإرسال البرقي تحت الماء إلى حقيقة وهو ما مكن "رويترز"من توسيع عملياتها حول العالم.وقد أسست رويترز أول مكتب ارسال برقي لها في الإسكندرية قبل مئة وخمسين عاماً وهو أيضاً أول مكتب للوكالة في الشرق الأوسط.
وقال نديم نجار، المدير العام لتومسون رويترز في الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا: "ان هذا الحفل هو أكثر بكثير من مجرد ذكرى سنوية لتأسيس رويترز في الشرق الأوسط انطلاقاً من مدينة الإسكندرية، ذلك أننا لم نعمل هنا عندما كان الوضع مناسباً لنا ثم غادرنا في الأوقات الصعبة. لقد بدأ نشاطنا في لندن كمركز رئيسي في القرن التاسع عشر واليوم لنا مكاتب في جميع أنحاء الشرق الأوسط من ضمنها دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة، والمملكة العربية السعودية، ولبنان وسوريا والعراق وغيرها الكثير."
وأضاف: "بدأت هذه الرحلة كصوت موثوق به لتزويد العالم بالأخبار غير المنحازة. واليوم نحن مستمرون بذلك حيث نعمل على بناء شراكات جديدة مع العملاء لتبادل المعلومات والرؤى معهم. نعمل بشكل دائم وحثيث لتمكين وتطوير قطاعات الأعمال المختلفة ودفع مسيرة النمو الاقتصادي على امتداد دول المِنطقة."

فرقة شتاتسكابيلي دريسدن تقدّم عرضاً أسطورياً في أبوظبي مع عازف البيانو رودولف بوخبيندر

وقدمت فرقة أوركسترا "شتاتسكابيلي دريسدن"بالتعاون مع عازف البيانو الموهوب رودولف بوخبيندر، عروضها الساحرة في أمسيتي الخامس والسادس من ديسمبر مقدمةً أعذب الألحان برفقة عازف البيانو الأسطوري رودولف بوخبيندر، خلال زيارتها الرابعة إلى العاصمة الإماراتية.

وتعد هذه هي المرة الاولى التي تستضيف فيها الإمارات خلال "موسيقى أبوظبي الكلاسيكية"الفنان رودولف بوخبيندر. ويكمن السر وراء نجاح بوخبيندر في حصد إعجاب الحضور وكسب محبتهم من خلال أدائه القوي لموسيقى فيينا الكلاسيكية، وفلسفته الّتي لا تقوم فقط على ارتقائه بالعزف على البيانو لأعلى مستويات الإتقان، بل لقيادته الرائعة للأوركسترا المؤلفة من 43 فناناً.

وتم اختيار قائمة العشرة الأوائل بناء على تحليل البيانات الخاص بمستخدمي موقع "انستغرام"الذين يصل عددهم لأكثر 375 مليون مستخدم نشط. وتم من خلال التحليل تحديد الفنادق التي اجتذبت أكبر عدد من الصور من قبل الزائرين حول العالم.

Sultan Bin Sulayem: Transport Arabia Excellence Awards can contribute to promote intra-region trade

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 10 December 2017: - Global trade enablerDP World was recognized for its world leading business standards and practices when Its UAE Region won two awards at the Transport Arabia Excellence Awards 2017, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, CEO and chairman of the Emirates Group, and Chairman of Dubai World.
DP World, UAE Region won the Terminal Operator of the Year Award, which cited the regional trade enabler for its consistently high levels of performance, commercial success and have shown a commitment to invest and expand operations in the future.
Jebel Ali Port won the Most Automated Container Terminal of the Year award, in recognition of DP World, UAE Region’s consistent efforts to set global benchmarks in port automation technologies.

منحت مجلة ذا بانكر (The Banker)، التابعة لمجموعة الفايننشال تايمز العالمية ومقرها لندن، البنك العربي لقب بنك العام في الشرق الأوسط للعام 2017وذلك في حفل خاص أُقيم مؤخرًا في لندن حضره جمع من الشخصيات المصرفية وممثلين عن 120مصرفًا من حول العالم.
وتعتبر مجلة ذا بانكر واحدة من أعرق المجلات المتخصصة بالشؤون المالية والمصرفية على مستوى العالم، حيث تُشكّل إصداراتها الشهرية منذ ما يقارب 90عامًا مرجعًا رئيسيًا للصناعة المصرفية العالمية. ويأتي منح هيئة التحكيم في المجلة هذا اللقب للبنك العربي بناء على مجموعة من المعايير المتخصصة والمرتبطة بالمركز المالي للبنك وأدائه والاستراتيجية التي يتبناها، إضافة إلى مجموعة من المعايير المتخصصة الأخرى.

Filipino laundry attendant wins hotel talent competition with Freddie Mercury tribute

Staff from UAE-headquartered hospitality company, TIME Hotels, were happy to make a song and dance at their work recently as they took part in the annual TIMER’S Got Talent competition.

Employees from TIME Oak Hotel & Suites took part in the contest where they were judged on overall performance, originality, stage appearance, audience response and personality.

And it was 37-year-old laundry attendant Aldwin Matocinos, a native of the Philippines who cleaned up, scoring 92.33 from the panel of three judges for his rendition of Queen’s 1975 number one hit Bohemian Rhapsody.

He said: “It’s great to win TIMER’S Got Talent. I really enjoy my job and I’m often singing as I go about my daily tasks. I thought I would enter as a bit of fun, never thinking that I’d win. The other contestants were really good and we all really enjoyed ourselves.”

Another TIME Hotels singing sensation, 33-year-old Nigerian Emmanuel Kofoworola, who is a housekeeping attendant, came second after impressing the judging panel with his take on Somebody, by Depeche Mode.

And 31-year-old Sri Lankan bellboy Hirantha Chamara cooked up a storm as he finished third with a demonstration on how to make delicious Devil Chicken. There was also further singing from contestants and a magic show.

There were cash prizes, an LED TV and mobile telephones for the winners.

TIME Hotels CEO Mohamed Awadalla, said: “Everybody had a great time. It was fascinating to see the hidden talents of our staff and for them to be rewarded with prizes at the same time. There was a real carnival atmosphere with both management and staff joining in the fun.”

نظمت مجموعة تايم للفنادق مؤخراً مسابقتها السنوية لاستعراض مواهب الموظفين، وشارك موظفو فندق وأجنحة تايم أوك في المسابقة حيث تم تقييم مواهبهم على أساس الأداء العام والتميز والمظهر واستجابة الجمهور والشخصية.

وكان الفوز من نصيب ألدوين ماتوسينوس فيليبيني الجنسية البالغ من العمر 37 عاماً حيث نجح بالحصول على تقييم مميز من لجنة التحكيم بلغ 92.33 درجة تقديراً لأدائه المميز.

وعلق الفائز بالقول: "أنا سعيد للغاية بفوزي بمسابقة المواهب في مجموعة تايم للفنادق (TIMER’S Got Talent)، وأنا غالباً ما أغني خلال القيام بمهامي اليومية وقررت المشاركة في هذه المسابقة من أجل التسلية ولم أعتقد أنني سأفوز في البداية لأن المتسابقين الآخرين كانوا جيدين للغاية أيضاً".

وجاء إيمانويل كوفوورولا النيجيري البالغ من العمر 33 عاماً في المرتبة الثانية، بينما كان المركز الثالث من نصيب هيرانثا تشمارا السريلانكي البالغ من العمر 31 عاماً.

وشهدت المسابقة العديد من عروض الأداء والغناء والعروض السحرية المميزة، وتم توزيع مجموعة متنوعة من الجوائز للفائزين بما في ذلك الهدايا النقدية وشاشة تلفزيون وهواتف محمولة.

وبهذا الصدد قال محمد عوض الله، الرئيس التنفيذي لمجموعة تايم للفنادق: "لقد استمتع جميع المشاركون والحضور في هذه المسابقة، ومن الرائع أن نرى المواهب المميزة التي يتمتع بها موظفونا في أجواء مميزة للغاية".

AUC PRESS AWARDS HUZAMA HABAYEB THE 2017 NAGUIB MAHFOUZ MEDAL FOR LITERATURE

December 11, 2017, Cairo – At a ceremony held tonight at The American University in Cairo (AUC) Tahrir Square campus, the AUC Press awarded the 2017 Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature to the Palestinian writer Huzama Habayeb for her novel Mukhmal (Velvet). Presented by Francis J. Ricciardone, AUC President, the award was decided by the members of the Award Committee: Tahia Abdel Nasser, professor of English and comparative literature, AUC; Shereen Abouelnaga, professor of English literature, Cairo University; Mona Tolba, associate professor of Arabic literature, Ain Shams University; Humphrey Davies, renowned translator of Arabic fiction, historical and classical texts, AUC and Rasheed El Enany, emeritus professor of modern Arabic literature, University of Exeter.
In their citation for the award, the judges described Mukhmal as “a new kind of Palestinian novel. It is not about the political cause, the resistance, the dream of return. It is rather about ordinary Palestinians, whose life goes on meanwhile, unnoticed and unrecorded, in the background, while the high dramas of politics occupy center-stage,” and went on to say: “Velvet is distinguished by the richness of its language and its empathy with its subject. Together, these produce a finely-textured description of a life lived in hardship but overflowing with sensibility and grace. . . . The protagonist of this novel is the poetic narration, the skillful words, the flowing images, and the measured prose. You read Velvet as though you are seeing your beautiful language dance and flutter. . . . Hawwa makes from the texture of velvet a motif colored with several connotations to protect her from falling into the abyss of despair and madness. So velvet becomes a goal, a dream, a means, a vision, a history, and a place to live, dream, and hope. . . . Habayeb is an original voice who brings vividly to life Palestinian camps with extraordinary beauty and lyricism.”

The AUC Press, which established the Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature in 1996, has been the primary publisher of Naguib Mahfouz’s English-language editions for more than thirty years, and has also been responsible for the publication of some 600 foreign-language editions of the Nobel laureate’s works in more than 40 languages around the world since the author won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1988. With some 60 new publications annually and more than 700 titles in print, the AUC Press is recognized as the region’s leading English-language publisher.

Nominations and submissions for the 2018 Naguib Mahfouz Medal for Literature are welcomed at any time until 15 February 2018. Arabic novels published for the first time in 2016 or 2017, and not yet translated into English, are eligible.

ويعتمد نموذج كريم في خلق فرص عمل جديدة على اتاحة الفرصة أمام كل شخص كي يصبح أحد كباتن الشركة، بما يدعم النمو  الاقتصادي في مصر، ويجعل كريم شركة مبتكرة في تقديم الوظائف لعشرات الآلاف من المصريين. وبالنظر لتصنيف كباتن كريم من حيث الحالة الوظيفية والفئة العمرية، نجد أنّ حوالي 23% من كباتن كريم من موظفي القطاع الخاص، و12% يعملون في القطاع العام والحكومي، بينما يعمل 29% منهم ككابتن في كريم فقط دون أي جهة أخرى، وهو ما يجعله معتمداً على دخله من كريم كمصدر دخله الوحيد والرئيسي، وتبلغ نسبة الكباتن الحرة في كريم 20%. تسعى كريم أيضاً لتشغيل كباتن خارج نطاق الفئات العمرية والوظيفية والمجتمعية المعتادة، عن طريق تقديم فرص عمل للمحالين على المعاش وطلبة الجامعة، حيث تبلغ نسبتهما ضمن كباتن كريم 6% و10% على التوالي.

Notice to proceed contracts for El Dabaa NPP construction signed in the presence of Presidents of Russian Federation and Egypt

Cairo, 11th December 2017
Director General of Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation Alexey Likhachev and Egypt’s Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker signed today the notices to proceed the contracts for the construction of the El Dabaa nuclear power plant. The signing ceremony was held in the presence of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
According to the signed contracts, Rosatom will build four VVER-1200 units of the El Dabaa NPP in the Matrouh region on the Mediterranean coast, as well as supplying nuclear fuel throughout the plant’s entire operational lifetime. This will help ensure competitive electricity pricing in Egypt over a period of 60 years. Rosatom will also be conduct personnel training and will assist its Egyptian partners in the operation and maintenance of the El Dabaa NPP for the first ten years of its operation. As part of yet another contract, the Russian side will construct a purpose-built storage and supply containers for storing spent fuel. The first unit of the El Dabaa NPP is to be commissioned in 2026.  
‘The contracts we’ve signed are a record-breaking deal in the history of the nuclear industry. The total cost of all four contracts amounts to billions of US dollars, also being the biggest non-feedstock deal in Russian history. We offered our partners in Egypt a unique comprehensive agreement that spans the power plant’s entire life cycle, i.e. 70 to 80 years. Today Rosatom is the only company in the world that is capable of providing the full range of peaceful nuclear services. The development of Egypt’s nuclear power industry is also important to Russia’s economy as dozens of Rosatom enterprises will be awarded significant contracts and will have an opportunity to showcase to the global community the advantage of Russian nuclear technologies’, said Director General of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev.
As part of the El Dabaa NPP project implementation, Rosatom will also aid Egypt in developing its nuclear infrastructure, as well as increasing the level of project localization and supporting Egypt in training nuclear cadre and driving the public acceptance of nuclear power.
The training of future NPP employees will be conducted in both Russia and Egypt. Over the next few years, hundreds of Egyptian students will study nuclear disciplines in Russia. The construction of the El Dabaa NPP will provide a stimulus for Egypt’s industrial development, with several dozens of Egyptian companies to be involved in the construction. The construction of the first unit is expected to have a localization level of at least 20%, while further units will be even more localized.
The 1,200 MWe reactor unit is a modern, internationally referenced Generation 3+ nuclear power plant that is fully compliant with post-Fukushima IAEA requirements and already implemented in Russia. On December 8, 2017 first criticality procedures was begun at the innovative Unit 1 of Leningrad NPP-2, a generation 3+ plant, that is referential to “El Dabaa” NPP project. Leningrad NPP-2 operating personnel successfully loaded the first of the 163 fuel assemblies with fresh nuclear fuel. Earlier, on August 5, 2016 the world’s first innovative Generation 3+ nuclear power unit was connected to the grid at the Novovoronezh NPP in Russia.

The signing of the notices to proceed for the contracts with Rosatom for the construction of 4 nuclear power units at the El Dabaa NPP is a dream of over 50 years in the making for most Egyptians.
The cooperation between Russia and Egypt in the nuclear field was established when USSR constructed the nuclear research center in Inshass and delivered the first Russian research reactor to Inshass which started operation in 1961 as the first reactor in the Arab World and the Middle East. Currently the strong relations between both countries are returning to their high point, and it is believed that the signing of the contract will contribute to furthering the political and economic relations between the two countries.
The power generation from the four reactors (VVER-1200) at the El Dabaa NPP when completed should contribute to over 10% of total power generation in Egypt. The particular economic contract between Egypt and Russia for the nuclear project is one of the best contracts to a developing country I had ever known. There will be no real financial burden on Egypt due to the construction loan provided by Russia, which extends for over 30 years while the first settlement of the loan will start years after the commissioning of all four units.
Rosatom is a company with many years of experience in the nuclear field. It is clear that Rosatom reactors are today considered number one in the market. The recent development of the nuclear power reactors (VVER-1000 and VVER-1200) types are developed with experience gained from their operations for years. VVER-1200 [to be used at the El Dabaa NPP] is the most advanced type of reactor (Generation 3+), which includes in its design all accumulated past experience. The safety and security features of the VVER-1200 are highly developed, which makes redundant any possible concern on behalf of the public.

The signing of the notices to proceed for the contracts for the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant between Egypt and Rosatom is very important for Egypt’s economy. As Egypt is performing great development projects in various industrial, agriculture, new cities etc, these projects demand   more power energy for their sustainable continuation. The nuclear power which will be generated from El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant will be a valuable addition to Egypt’s energy mix. It is important to mention that the nuclear energy represents a sustainable, clean and safe type of energy. It does not produce any harmful gases which can have negative effects on the environment.
Egypt and Russia have long-standing relations of cooperation and friendship, especially in the technical and technological fields. Rosatom’s success in setting up the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant will open up good opportunities for Russia in many Arabian and African countries.
Rosatom is one of the most advanced companies in the establishment and operation of nuclear power plants worldwide. It has built many nuclear power reactors inside and outside Russia. El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant will be a future of high safety. The site of the NPP fulfills all the requirements according to the international standards for the establishment of nuclear plants and have been carried out by companies specialized in the studies of the site selection for nuclear power plants. These specifications confirm that Egypt will get reliable and safe energy.
Egypt's benefit from the Russian experience in this area will be great, because Russia has a long and distinguished experience in constructing nuclear power plants.

The signing of the notices to proceed for the contracts between Rosatom and Egypt to construct the first nuclear power The NPP is very important in providing jobs and in providing badly needed electricity. However, its importance does not only stem from this.
The NPP’s construction will also contribute to the development of Egyptian industry through a long-term program for the establishment of nuclear plants in which local manufacturing share increases according to a clear and committed plan. The relationship between Egypt and Russia can build on the achievements of their historic cooperation. في حضور رئيسي روسيا ومصر: توقيع محضر دخول عقود بناء محطة "الضبعة" للطاقة النووية حيز التنفيذ

وقع اليوم كلاً من السيد اليكسي ليخاتشيوف مدير عام شركة روساتوم الحكومية والسيد محمد شاكر وزير الكهرباء والطاقة المتجددة المصري محضر دخول العقود التجارية لبناء محطة "الضبعة" للطاقة النووية حيز التنفيذ. تمت مراسم التوقيع في حضور السيد فلاديمير بوتين رئيس روسيا الاتحادية والسيد عبدالفتاح السيسي رئيس جمهورية مصر العربية.
ستقوم شركة روساتوم وفقا للعقود الموقعة ببناء محطة "الضبعة" للطاقة النووية من أربعة وحدات للطاقة من طراز1200 – VVER بالقرب من مدينة مطروح على ساحل البحر الابيض المتوسط كما ستقوم بتزويدها بالوقود النووي الروسي طوال فترة تشغيل المحطة النووية مما يضمن التكلفة التنافسية للطاقة الكهربائية لمدة 60 عاما، اضافة إلى أن شركة روساتوم ستقوم بإعداد وتدريب الموظفين وستساعد الشركاء المصريين في عملية تشغيل وصيانة محطة "الضبعة" للطاقة النووية في فترة العشرة سنوات الاولى من تشغيل المحطة. كما انه بموجب اتفاق اخر فإن الجانب الروسي سيقوم ببناء مرفق خاص وتوريد حاويات لتخزين الوقود النووي المستنفذ. سيتم تشغيل وحدة الطاقة الاولى لمحطة "الضبعة" للطاقة النووية سنة 2027.
وقد علق السيد اليكسي ليخاتشيوف مدير عام شركة روساتوم الحكومية على دخول العقود حيز التنفيذ قائلا: "ان العقود الموقعة تعتبر صفقة قياسية في تاريخ الصناعات النووية العالمية. حيث تبلغ القيمة الاجمالية للعقود الاربعة عشرات المليارات من الدولارات الامريكية –كما انها اكبر اتفاقية تصدير لمنتجات غير الخام في تاريخ روسيا. لقد قدمنا لشركائنا المصريين اتفاقا شاملا فريدا يغطي كامل فترة تشغيل محطة الطاقة النووية لمدة70 – 80 سنة. ان روساتوم حاليا هي الشركة الوحيدة في العالم القادرة على تزويد العملاء بمجموعة كاملة من الخدمات في مجال الطاقة النووية السلمية بالإضافة إلى أن تطوير الطاقة النووية في مصر مهم أيضا بالنسبة للاقتصاد الروسي حيث ان العشرات من شركات مجموعة روساتوم سيكون لديها حجوزات قيمة كما انها ستكون فرصة لإثبات مزايا التكنولوجيا النووية الروسية للمجتمع العالمي".
ستساعد شركة روساتوم الشركاء المصريين كجزء من عملية تنفيذ مشروع محطة "الضبعة" للطاقة النووية في تطوير البنية التحتية النووية وزيادة المكون المحلي وتقديم الدعم في مجال تدريب الموظفين الوطنيين وزيادة القبول العام للطاقة النووية بين الجماهير. سيتم تدريب العمال المستقبليين لمحطة "الضبعة" للطاقة النووية في كل من روسيا ومصر. وسيتم ارسال مئات الطلاب الى روسيا في السنوات القليلة المقبلة للتدريب على التخصصات النووية. إن إنشاء محطة الضبعة للطاقة النووية سيكون حافزا لزيادة التنمية الصناعية في مصر حيث ستشارك عشرات الشركات المصرية في عملية البناء. عند بناء الوحدة الأولى من محطة الطاقة النووية المصرية سيكون المكون المحلي 20٪على الأقل وسيرتفع هذا المؤشر عند إنشاء الوحدات التالية.
ان المفاعل بطاقة 1200 ميجاوات يعتبر محطة نووية حديثة من الجيل الثالث بلس تتوافق تماما مع معايير ما بعد فوكوشيما والتي تطلبها الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية. وقد انطلق التشغيل الفعلي في روسيا في 8 ديسمبر 2017 لوحدة الطاقة رقم 1 من الجيل الثالث بلس لمحطة "لينينجراد" للطاقة النووية- 2 وهي المحطة المرجعية لمحطة "الضبعة" للطاقة النووية. حيث نجح المختصون في تشغيل محطة "لينينجراد" للطاقة النووية- 2  في تحميل اول وحدات الوقود النووي الجديدة من اصل 163 وحدة داخل المنطقة النشطة للمفاعل. وسبق ان تم تشغيل أول وحدة توليد طاقة متطورة في العالم من الجيل الثالث بلس في محطة "نوفوفورونيج" للطاقة النووية – 2  في 5 أغسطس 2016.

إن التوقيع على محضر دخول العقود مع روساتوم لانشاء محطة "الضبعة"باربعة وحدات للطاقة النووية حيز التنفيذ – هو تحقيق لحلم تمناه المصريون منذ خمسين عاما. و كان التعاون بين بلدينا في المجال النووي قد بدء مع بناء مفاعل الابحاث السوفياتي في انشاص  و قد  كان الاول في العالم العربي و الشرق الاوسط و بدأ في العمل سنة 1961. واليوم تعود العلاقات بين روسيا و مصر الى أوجها و يتوقع بعد توقيع محاضر التنفيذ أن يتم تعزيز علاقات التعاون السياسي و الاقتصادي بين البلدين.
إن الطاقة الكهربائية التي ستولدها وحدات الطاقة الاربعة لمحطة "الضبعة"النووية ستوفر 10% من إجمالي الطاقة المنتجة في مصر.ويعتبر العقد الروسي المصري لبناء محطة الطاقة النووية واحدا من افضل العقود التي أعرفها بين أمثاله من العقود الموقعة مع الدول النامية. وحيث أن القرض الروسي لبناء المحطة والذي سيمتد حتى 30 عاما والدفعة الاولى منه لن تدفع إلا بعد تشغيل جميع وحدات الطاقة للمحطة فإن مصر لن تعاني من أي أعباء مالية بسبب المشروع. كما أن الإيرادات المصرية من تشغيل وحدات طاقة الأربعة للمحطة النووية خلال اجمالي فترة التشغيل بأكملها ستتجاوز التكلفة الاجماليه للبناء عدة مرات.

توقيع محضر بدء نفاذ العقود بين مصر و روساتوم لبناء محطة "الضبعة"للطاقة النووية هام جدا بالنسبة لمصر. حيث تقوم مصر حاليا بتنفيذ عدة مشاريع ضخمة في مجالات الصناعة والزراعة و بناء المدن الجديدة و ستحتاج البلاد الى مزيد من الطاقة الكهربائية من اجل استمرار التنمية. وستصبح الكهرباء المولدة في محطة "الضبعة"للطاقة النووية إضافة هامة إلى حسابات الطاقة في مصر. ومن المهم ملاحظة أن الطاقة النووية تعتبر مصدر طاقة مستقر "نظيف"وآمن لا ينتج انبعاثات من المواد الضارة بالبيئة.
إن لدى مصر وروسيا تاريخا طويلا من العلاقات الودية والتعاون وخاصة فى المجالات العلمية والفنية. كما أن نجاح روساتوم في بناء محطة "الضبعة"للطاقة النووية سيخلق فرصا جيدة لتطوير التعاون الروسي مع العديد من الدول العربية والافريقية.
