11 Global FinTech Firms Triumph as Finalists for FinTech Abu Dhabi Innovation Challenge

·         Game-changing solutions will be showcased at FinTech Abu Dhabi in October where ultimate winners will be announced


18 September 2017, Abu Dhabi, UAE: Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), the International Financial Centre in Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with KPMG, announced that 11 outstanding global FinTech firms have been shortlisted for the inaugural FinTech Abu Dhabi Innovation Challenge in October. The selected firms are currently undergoing an intensive five-week programme (which kicked-off on Sunday 17th September), which allows them to contextualise and present market-ready solutions tailored for the Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region.

Overcoming stiff competition from 166 applicants, the 11 successful companies come from a number of different countries including four applicants from Singapore, two from India, one from Hong Kong, one from China, one from Canada, one from the United Kingdom and one from the UAE. Each of the applicants put forward exceptional ideas that provided innovative and game-changing solutions to a series of problem statements to address real business challenges that the financial services industry currently faces.

Within the 5-week programme, the shortlisted finalists will be tasked with developing their solutions to specific problem statements, focusing at six focus areas: Financial and Investment Management, Financial Inclusion, RegTech, Trade Finance, InsurTech and Private Capital Markets.  Some of these statements include developing personal finance management tools, KYC solutions, interactive investment ecosystems and financial services for the un(der)banked.

Over the course of the programme, each finalist will also benefit from the support and mentorship of an expert pool of more than 14 FinTech and financial industry leaders over the course of the programme, including topic deep-dives on business incorporation, regulatory requirements, funding and partnerships, opportunities to enter or expand into the MEASA financial services sector and fast-tracked consideration for admission to ADGM’s Regulatory Laboratory (RegLab) programme. All finalists will then proceed to the hotly-contested FinTech Demo Day taking place on 22nd October, where two eventual winners will be selected and invited to demonstrate their solution at the upcoming Global FinTech Hackcelerator in Singapore.

The successful applicants are:

·         NewBridge FinTech (Fundshop) (UAE) - a UAE-based digital wealth solution provider to Private Banks, Wealth Management and Asset Management companies. Its flagship product, Fundshop, is an automated wealth management robo-engine which uses multiple processes to provide tailored and institutional level of portfolio advice to private clients on their existing and new wealth using a highly innovative, risk and trend-based algorithm. 

·         Alpha FinTech (Singapore) - a FinTech vendor enablement and management platform.  Using a single API and a simple user interface, banks, payment gateways and enterprise merchants are now able to access both new and legacy vendors across the entire payment, risk and commerce spectrum. Alpha also introduces new value-add layers to optimise the utilisation and management thereof.

·         Everledger (UK) - using the best of emerging technology including blockchain and smart contracts, Everledger's solution shifts the burden of the paper process onto a digital global ledger that is immutable, secure, scalable and fast. With a hybrid approach of public and permissioned ledgers, the permissible parameters of the records are easily managed. This redefines the way documentation is stored and data is shared, which is adaptable across numerous industries and highly mitigates risk and fraud with clear financial as well as insurance benefits.

·         FRS Labs (India) -  have built a digital solution that allows customers to open bank accounts from the comfort of their homes. They allow customers to scan any National ID, verify personal details, detect images, read facial expressions, and check for liveliness of the applicant and match with other compliance databases to detect risky applicants. The account opening process includes customer due diligence to detect risky applicants can be completed under ten minutes with dramatic reduction in cost for banks.

·         ftcash (India) - aims to empower these small businesses with the power of digital payments and loans, only using a bank account and a feature phone. ftcash aggregates all payment methods including credit/debit cards, net banking, various mobile wallets, UPI, BharatQR and PayPal to create an open platform for merchants to initiate digital payments and provide institutional capital in less than five minutes.

·         Market IQ (Canada) - is a simple app that helps users manage their financial life easily and effectively.  It combines data from multiple sources like bank accounts, credit cards, insurance, and brokerages to provide a unified view of the user's financial life. Not only does the app make everything easy to understand with beautiful visualisations, it also interprets the data using its cognitive intelligence engine to surface insights in simple English so the user can better understand the story behind the numbers and take real action to save money and make money.

·         Canopy (Singapore) - is a platform that allows all assets to be anonymously aggregated and viewed as a single portfolio, run portfolio analytics, and generate custom reports and more. Facing a lack of data feed from private banks, Canopy eliminates manual data entry by straight-through-processing data from any sources, including PDF statements. Having an aggregated portfolio view coupled with their innovative tools helps users to make sense of their data, resulting in better investment decisions.

·         Silent Eight (Singapore) - is powered by artificial intelligence and built to think like an analyst. Silent Eight reviews all available data at lightning speed and provides analysts with useful, relevant information with each alert. This helps the analysts to conclude their investigations much faster and with far fewer mistakes.

·         Privé Financial Limited (Hong Kong) - Wealth management is being challenged and transformed by regulatory oversight, client expectations and increasing competition from industry disrupters. Accordingly, wealth advisors cannot continue the traditional “product pushing” business model and must transition to a more customer-centric model whereby they look to personalize their service offerings. At the heart of this sea change is the ability of institutions to truly understand their clients. By empowering the financial advisors with superior intelligence and execution capabilities, Privé Managers presents a digital ecosystem geared towards enhancing client engagement through a personalized advisory approach. ·         SQREEM (Singapore) – is a tech company in the field of artificial Intelligence with a software technology stack, and series of cognitive AI algorithms that allows one to understand & predict all aspects of human behaviour. SQREEM has developed one of the largest cloud hosted behavioural data acquisition capabilities databases in the world, where one is able to build personas, understand customer journeys, map behavioural intent to purchase, and in turn target consumers across any channel, in over 60 countries and all languages.

The 11 teams were selected by a panel of industry experts based on criteria which included: uniqueness of the solution; relevance to the problem statements; business potential and scalability of the solution; maturity of the solution and demonstration of start-up’s ability to execute.

The FinTech Abu Dhabi Innovation Challenge, organised by ADGM and KPMG, is part of the first FinTech Summit in the region, between 22 and 23 October 2017.  The event will give the 11 finalists the opportunity to showcase their solutions on the main stage of the FinTech Summit in Abu Dhabi. During the Summit, participants will present their solutions to a panel of industry experts.  The experts will then select the two final winners who will be invited to participate at the Singapore FinTech Festival, as part of the ADGM team, to showcase their solution on 16 November 2017 at the Global FinTech Hackcelerator held in Singapore.

Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority issues permits for vehicles operated by tourism and hospitality companies to enter desert and natural habitat areas

September 18, 2017 – According to Sharjah Executive Council no.10 of year 2017, the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA) announced that it has begun issuing permits for vehicles of tour operators wishing to enter desert and natural habitat areas, in line with its efforts to boost destination experiences in the emirate. Sharjah is known for its attractive natural heritage and wildlife parks, as well as an ideal destination for desert Safari trips and adventures, which has witnessed huge demand in recent years.

The SCTDA confirmed that it has launched the new project, which grants permit for tour operators and other travel and hospitality companies to explore the emirate’s outback regions as it has become an essential element in tourism offerings of several tour and sightseeing companies in Sharjah in recent years. The permit paves way for a more organized movement of vehicles entering these desert zones and thereby enhancing the adventure experiences of visitors while upholding the emirate’s position as a premier leisure and recreation destination.

H.E. Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, Chairman of SCTDA, said: “The granting of licences brings in numerous benefits, including environmental, historical, natural and cultural gains. The desert is a vital integrated system which embraces many forms of wildlife and requires quick intervention. Thus, it is important that there is an organized flow of movement of 4x4 vehicles entering the inner areas, which have been rapidly expanding as a favourite adventure destination. This move ensures a more proper care of all life forms in the desert and maintenance of the natural sights there that draw a lot of visitors.”
Al Midfa noted that the larger vision of this project is to provide Sharjah’s visitors with a sustainable tourism attraction as well as a more organized access for all four-wheel vehicles intended for desert safaris and tour operators bringing tourists to desert areas.

Al Midfa highlighted that preserving the environment is the main priority of this project, as well as help prevent and reduce the violation of privacy rights of residents in some residential areas because of using internal roads as shortcuts. The new project also aims to prevent accidents, especially with the increasing number of desert safari vehicles entering these zones; lessen unlicensed trips or cars that were not designed to travel in desert areas; and reduce risks for tourists.

Tour operators can apply for permits for their four-wheel vehicles subject to specific requirements and specifications either through an easy and simple electronic system or through the Authority's offices in Sharjah, provided that these vehicles are licensed as tour vehicles by the licensing departments in Sharjah or other emirates.

With these permits, operators are bound by law to implement all the requirements that are mainly for their best interest as they need a long-term sustainable environment to continue attracting visitors. The permit-holders must comply with all environmental laws and related security and safety requirements and violators will be held liable under the law, including imposition of fines. Tour operators will be provided with all the information and instructions related to security, safety and other services available in the local areas including guide maps of other tourism and archaeological sites.

The SCTDA affirmed its commitment to provide smooth and easy procedures with the processing time to complete the application within a maximum of two to four days.

تتولى هيئة الإنماء السياحي والتجاري مسؤولية إصدارها

الشارقة تبدأ إصدار تصاريح المركبات السياحية لدخول المناطق البرية في الإمارة

الإمارات –الشارقة 18 سبتمبر 2017:أعلنت هيئة الإنماء السياحي والتجاري بالشارقة عن بدء إصدار تصاريح للمركبات السياحية لدخول المناطق البرية في إمارة الشارقة ، بناءً على قرار المجلس التنفيذي رقم 010) لسنة 2017، وذلك في مسعىً منها للحفاظ على جاذبية الشارقة كوجهة للرحلات السياحية الصحراوية (السفاري) ومغامرات الصحراء لا سيما في ظل الإقبال الكبير الذي شهدته خلال السنوات القليلة الماضية، حيث يُعرف عن صحراء الشارقة أنها موطنٌ لعناصر جذب جمالية وطبيعية خلابة.

تصاريح
تفصيلاً، أكدت هيئة الإنماء السياحي والتجاري بالشارقة عن البدء بمشروع منح تصاريح المركبات السياحية لدخول المناطق البرية في الإمارة، وذلك انطلاقاً من الطلب المتزايد على الرحلات الصحراوية واعتمادها كعنصر أساسي في البرامج السياحية لمختلف الشركات الناشطة في السوق السياحية لإمارة الشارقة، الأمر الذي يتطلب تنظيم حركة المركبات ضمن المناطق السياحية الداخلية والصحراوية بما يعزز التجربة السياحية لزوار الإمارة من جهة، ويحافظ على المكتسبات السياحية للإمارة وشركائها في القطاع السياحي من جهة أخرى.

استحقاقات
بدوره، أكد سعادة خالد جاسم المدفع رئيس هيئة الإنماء التجاري والسياحي بالشارقة أن إصدار هذه التصاريح يأتي لمواكبة عدة استحقاقات بيئية وتاريخية وطبيعية وحضارية، لافتاً إلى أن الصحراء تمثل نظاماً حيوياً متكاملاً يحتضن العديد من أشكال الحياة البرية الأمر الذي يتطلب تدخلاً سريعاً لتنظيم حركة مرور مركبات

الدفع الرباعي ضمن المناطق الداخلية التي باتت أعدادها في تزايدٍ مستمر، الأمر الذي يشكل محط ترحيب مشروط بضمان الحفاظ على الأنماط البيئية من جهة واستدامة عناصر الجذب الطبيعية للزوار من جهة أخرى.  

رؤية سياحية مستدامة
وشدد سعادة خالد المدفع على أن الرؤية الأشمل لهذا المشروع تتمثل في الوصول إلى منتج سياحي مستدام لزوار الإمارة الباسمة، في الوقت الذي تنبثق عن هذه الرؤية جملة من الأهداف الهامة تتجسد في تنظيم عملية دخول مركبات الدفع الرباعي السياحية للمناطق البرية والصحراوية بعيداً عن العشوائية لمركبات الدفع الرباعي التابعة للشركات السياحية ومنظمي رحلات السفاري.
ونوّه المدفع إلى أن الحفاظ على البيئة يتصدر قائمة أولويات هذا المشروع من ناحية، ومن ناحية أخرى يساهم بمنع انتهاك خصوصية قاطني المناطق السكنية نتيجة استخدام طرقاتهم الداخلية كطرق مختصرة. ومن بين الأهداف التي يسعى المشروع الجديد إلى تحقيقها: الحد من الحوادث الداخلية لا سيما في ظل الارتفاع المستمر في أعداد المركبات المستخدمة في الرحلات السياحية (السفاري) ، وكذلك الحد من نقل السياح في مركبات سياحية غير مرخصة أو حتى غير تابعة للشركات السياحية، ما من شأنه أن يمثل خطراً على السائح.

نظام إصدار إلكتروني
هذا وسيتم إصدار تصاريح مركبات الدفع الرباعي السياحية وفقاً لاشتراطات ومواصفات محددة للشركات ومنظمي الرحلات السياحية (السفاري) عبر نظام إلكتروني سهل وبسيط للغاية أو حتى عن طريق مكاتب الهيئة في الإمارة، وذلك على أن تكون تلك المركبات مرخصة كمركبات سياحية من قبل إدارات الترخيص في الشارقة أو في الإمارات الأخرى.
ومع استصدار تلك التصاريح، يصبح منظموا الرحلات السياحية ملزمين أمام القانون بتنفيذ كافة الاشتراطات التي تصب في مصلحتهم أولاً، نظراً لكونهم بحاجة إلى بيئة مستدامة قادرة على استقطاب الزوار على المدى الطويل. وينبغي على حاملي تلك التصاريح الإلتزام بكافة القوانين البيئية واشتراطات الأمن والسلامة المرفقة معها وذلك تجنباً للمساءلة القانونية والغرامات المترتبة على المخالفات، مع الأخذ بعين الاعتبار أنه سيتم إرفاق جميع المعلومات والإرشادات الخاصة بالأمن والسلامة وغيرها من الخدمات المتوافرة في المناطق الداخلية وخرائط إرشادية تتضمن أماكن المعالم السياحية والأثرية.

DUBAI, Sept. 17, 2017 – Honeywell (NYSE: HON)has released its latest flight planning application for the Connected Aircraft, GoDirect™ Flight Bag Pro, to business aviation pilots. Pilots can create and file flight plans for easy reference, calculate and compare aircraft cruise modes to increase performance, and access real-time weather updates to ensure the aircraft arrives at the destination on time. GoDirect Flight Bag Pro is available via an iPad app, and versions for other tablets are in development.

El Dabaa nuclear power plant is good news for Egypt, and nuclear education and training is key

This September, the El Dabaa Atomic Technical School opens its doors for its first students, who will upon graduation go on to work at Egypt’s first nuclear power plant at El Dabaa. This is however just one important step to developing Egypt’s own nuclear cadre that will service the country’s nuclear industry. In an opinion piece written shortly before his untimely death, Prof. Mahmoud Barakat of the Nuclear & Radiological Control Authority argues that education and training of qualified nuclear cadre is crucial to the fulfilment of Egypt’s nuclear dream.
Since the nuclear energy appeared on the international arena in mid-last century, it occupies an increasingly important position in terms of human development at all levels including scientific, economic, social and military levels. Accordingly, many countries have moved to nuclear power by establishing of number of nuclear power plants to generate electricity as an alternative of fossil fuels. Since 1960s, Egypt tried to launch a limited program to establish nuclear power plant in Egypt, but it did not succeed. These attempts, which lasted for more than half a century until the recent agreement was signed between Russia and Egypt to establish a power plant in El Dabaa on the North Coast.

There is no doubt that this long-anticipated agreement was good news for millions of Egyptians. Everyone is waiting for the start of the establishment of the new plant. Here comes the role of specialists to equip the project with all means of success. In order to reach the desired success, Egypt has cooperated with the Russian company, Rosatom. We will focus on this report on education and training in the area of nuclear energy.

It is obvious that preparation and training of Egyptian cadre definitely varies according to employees’ classification in the nuclear power plant. Operators and their assistants in different places will be trained for a period not less than two years, including theoretical training and lectures focusing on handling simple or major accidents. They are also trained on simulator for a certain number of hours to be determined by trainers. The training of fresh graduates will last for two years. The first year will be a full-time study of nuclear physics, physics and reactors engineering, nuclear fuel chemistry and engineering management followed by various disciplines in the workplace during the second year.

We should start immediately on the establishment of a training center with a suitable size, including all initial and advanced training activities. The establishment of the training center will help ensure the continuous provision of trained workers at all levels with appropriate numbers and at a high level of professionalism. We should develop modern administrative systems without any complexities of routine.
The trainers should be selected very carefully according to a rigorous academic basis, provided that they possess personal and scientific capabilities, to ensure they will be able to provide the highest standards of training with the support of clear disciplines for each training level. It is also important that Rosatom experts to take part in the training process, to ensure the training is implemented in the most professional way.        
 
We now understand the importance of training and qualified teams, who will be involved in the establishment and operation of nuclear power plants. Rosatom experts have a key role in the training process, by selecting ad designing disciplines, selecting applicant trainers, verification of training process, and finally supervising students' assessment at the end of the program.        

Rosatom should also attract Egyptian and Russian technical universities to contribute in designing the training disciplines for different levels, while providing qualified trainees. We have to remember that the operational lifetime of the nuclear power plant exceeds 60 years, and here again we emphasize the importance of training for all cadres, who work in different sectors and departments. This raises the issue of continuous training, particularly after the full operation of the power plant. The training is a continuous process and goes hand in hand with the production life of the nuclear plant itself.      
 
The energy projects occupy a leading position for most countries as energy is a key driver for economic and social development. On the other hand, nuclear power plants have a huge importance in emerging countries as they are striving to build their capacities in all aspects of life. However, the insufficiency of qualified cadres, the lack of funding and the poor infrastructure can hinder the establishment of nuclear power plants and put the projects on hold. To overcome these challenges, the emerging markets start to seek cooperation and partnerships with technologically advanced countries through well-structured contracts, where all commitments, obligations and responsibilities are clearly defined. These agreements ensure the establishment of a sound infrastructure, including the preparation of qualified cadres.

The establishment and operation of the first nuclear power plant in Egypt, as well as affiliate training centers, are extremely important to ensure sustainability of power supply of the plant. This will maximize the economic and social benefits for Egypt, by increasing the number of industrial projects, expanding reclaimed lands, upgrading irrigation systems, and relying on advanced harvesting techniques to reduce waste.

خلال شهر سبتمبر الجاري، ستفتح المدرسة الثانوية الفنية لتكنولوجيا الطاقة النووية أبوابها لاستقبال الدفعة الأولى من طلابها الذين سيتجهون بعد تخرجهم للعمل في أولى المحطات النووية في مصر والتي تُقام في منطقة الضبعة. وتُعد هذه المبادرة خطوة واحدة ضمن سلسلة من الخطوات الحيوية التي يتم اتخاذها لتطوير كادر مهني متخصص في المجال النووي في مصر وهو ما يصب في مصلحة القطاع النووي في البلاد.  وقبل وفاته المفاجئ مباشرة، كتب الدكتور/ محمود بركات، رئيس الهيئة العربية للطاقة الذرية (‏سابقاً)‏، مقالاً تناول فيه الأهمية القصوى لتعليم وتدريب كوادر فنية ومهنية متخصصة في مجال الطاقة النووية من أجل تحقيق الحلم النووي لمصر.

منذ أن ظهرت  الطاقة  النووية  على الساحة  الدولية منتصف  القرن الماضى وهى تحتل مكانة  متزايدة الأهمية فى تقدم البشرية على جميع الأصعدة العلمية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية والعسكرية أيضاً. ولهذا، سعت العديد من الدول لاستخدام الطاقة النووية بصورة سلمية من خلال إنشاء عدد من محطات الطاقة النووية بهدف توليد الكهرباء باعتبارها بديلاً للوقود التقليدي. ومنذ فترة الستينيات من القرن الماضي، حاولت مصر إطلاق برنامج محدود لإنشاء محطة للطاقة النووية، ولكن محاولاتها لم تنجح في ذلك الوقت. واستمرت هذه المحاولات لأكثر من نصف قرن حتى تم مؤخرا توقيع اتفاقية بين روسيا ومصر لإنشاء محطة نووية هي الأولى من نوعها بمنطقة الضبعة.

ولا شك أن هذا الاتفاق الذي طال انتظاره قد أسعد ملايين المصريين، ويتطلع الجميع للإعلان عن بدء تنفيذ هذا المشروع. ولكن يظل دور المختصصين قائما للعمل على توفير أسباب النجاح  لهذا المشروع  العملاق. ولضمان تحقيق النجاح المنشود، تعاونت مصر مع الشركة الروسية روس أتوم. لذا، سنركز في هذا التقرير على قضايا التعليم  والتدريب فى مجال الطاقه  النووية. من الواضح أن إعداد وتدريب كوادر مهنية من المصريين يختلف بالضرورة حسب مستوى التقسيم الوظيفي للعاملين بالمحطة  النووية. إنّ المسئولين عن عمليات التشغيل بالأقسام المختلفة ومساعديهم سيتلقوم تدريبا لمدة لا تقل عن عامين، يحصل المتدربين خلالها على تدريب نظري  ومحاضرات تتركز على كيفية التعامل مع الحوادث البسيطة أو الكبرى وسيتم  تدريبهم أيضاً على كيفية محاكاة نظم العمل لعدد معين من الساعات يحددها مسؤل  التدريب.

ويستمر التدريب الموجه لخريجي الجامعات الجدد لمدة عامين. خلال العام الأول من التدريب، يتم التركيز التام على دراسة الفيزياء النووية وهندسة المفاعلات وكيمياء الوقود النووي والإدارة  الهندسية، بينما يتضمن العام التدريبي الثاني تدريباً ميدانياً بالتبادل في تخصصات مختلفة وفى مواقع العمل. وينبغي البدء فورا في إقامة مركز للتدريب بحجم مناسب يضم كل أنشطه التدريب الأساسية والمتقدمة باعتبارها عملية مستمرة، لضمان الامداد المستمر بالعمالة المدربة على كل المستويات،  بالأعداد المناسبة ومستوى الحرفية المناسب، مع وضع  الأنظمة الإدارية الحديثة بعيداً عن التعقيدات الروتينية المعتادة.

ويجرى اختيار المدربين بدقة وعلى أسس أكاديمية، على أن يكون لديهم قدرات شخصية وعلمية واضحة للقيام بعملية التدريب. ومن خلال لجان متخصصة، يتم وضع منهج خاص للتدريب لكل مستوى  تدريبي تتحدد فيه أهداف التدريب وتفاصيله والاختبارات اللازمة، مع مراجعة لجان أخرى متخصصة لكل البرامج، والالتزام بهذه البرامج خلال التدريب. وتعد مشاركة خبراء روس أتوم من الأمور الضرورية فى جميع أنشطة التدريب ووضع البرامج  وكذلك تصميم آليات مناسبة  للتأكد من كفاءة تنفيذ البرنامج التدريبي.

ينبغي أيضاً إدراك أهمية التدريب والتأهيل للعاملين فى إنشاء وتشغيل المحطات النووية لتوليد الكهرباء. إنّ إسهام روس أتوم من الأمور المحورية فى هذا الصدد، وذلك للدور الأساسي الذي يقوم به خبرائها للعمل فى كل مجالات  التدريب، بداية من تحديد  مجالات التدريب المختلفة واختيار المتدربين والمدربين، واعتماد مواد التدريب ومناهجه، ثم الإشراف على تنفيذ  التدريب، وأخيراً الإشراف على عمليات التأهيل والتقييم في نهاية البرنامج. من جهة أخرى، ينبغي أن تقوم روس أتوم بجذب وتشجيع الجامعات ومراكز البحوث المناسبة فى مصر وروسيا، للمساهمة فى وضع أنظمة التدريب لمختلف المستويات والتخصصات وكذلك المشاركة فى توفير المتدربين المؤهلين.

وعلينا أن نضع في اعتبارنا أن العمر التشغيلي للمحطة النووية يتجاوز 60 عاما. ولهذا، ينبغي أن نؤكد على أهمية تدريب الكوادر من العاملين في كافة القطاعات والأقسام. وهذا الأمر يثير قضية التدريب المستمر، خاصةً بعد تشغيل المحطة النووية بالكامل. إن مشروعات الطاقة تحتل مكانة ريادية في معظم الدول، حيث أن الطاقة تعد المحرك الرئيسي للتنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية. وعلى صعيد آخر، تتمتع المحطات النووية بأهمية كبرى في الدول الناشئة، حيث تستهدف تلك الدول الوصول لأقصى طاقاتها في كافة مجالات الحياة. إلا أن عدم توافر الكوادر المؤهلة والتمويل اللازم بالإضافة لتهالك البنية التحتية يمكن أن يمثل عائقا أمام إنشاء المحطات النووية، وهو ما يؤجل تنفيذ هذه المشروعات.

ومن أجل التغلب على هذه العقبات، بدأت الأسواق الناشئة في السعى لتحقيق التعاون وإنشاء شراكات مع الدول المتقدمة تكنولوجيا من خلال عقود واتفاقيات ذات صياغة محكمة فيما يتعلق بكافة الواجبات والالتزامات والمسئوليات الي ينبغي تحديدها بوضوح. إنّ هذه الاتفاقيات تُعد ضماناً لإنشاء بنية تحتية جيدة بما في ذلك إعداد الكوادر المؤهلة. إن إنشاء وتشغيل المحطة النووية الأولى في مصر ومراكز  التدريب الملحقة بها يعد أمراً في غاية الأهمية، لضمان استدامة امدادات الطاقة، وهو ما يؤدى بدوره لتعظيم العائد الاقتصادي والاجتماعي لمصر من خلال زيادة مشروعات التنمية  الصناعية وبناء  المزيد  من  المصانع  وتطوير المشروعات الزراعية بما في ذلك استصلاح الأراضي وتطوير أساليب الري وميكنة  العمليات الزراعية وتجميع ومعاملة المحاصيل بكفاءة، بهدف تقليل  الفاقد.

“The Emerging Strategic Co-operation between Egypt, Cyprus and Greece: Energy and Security” is a workshop that brings together academics from the three Eastern Mediterranean countries. The workshop is jointly organized by the Center for American Studies and Research (CASAR) and the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at The American University in Cairo (AUC) in cooperation with the Institute for International Relations, Panteion University, and the Center for Energy Policy at the University of Nicosia (UNIC).
The workshop aims at exploring, through innovative ideas and joint research, means to translate such partnership into synergies and common projects, particularly in the areas of hydrocarbon monetization, electricity (due to Euro-Africa and an electricity project connecting Egypt with Crete promoted by Egyptian companies) and renewable energy. The workshop will also address the strategic importance of this tripartite partnership from the security perspective, recognizing Egypt, Greece and Cyprus as pillars of stability in the region.

أبوظبي، 25 سبتمبر 2017: أعلن مركز التطوير المهني في جامعة نيويورك أبوظبي عن تنظيمه للدورة السنوية الرابعة من معرض الدراسات العليا يوم السبت الموافق 30 سبتمبر بين الساعة 1:30 ظهراً و5:30 مساءً. وتسمح هذه الفعالية المجانية للطلاب بالتعرف عن كثب على كليات الدراسات العليا والمهنية المرموقة.

وتفتح هذه الفعالية أبوابها أمام جميع الحضور، كما تقدم فرصةً مثاليةً للاستماع إلى ممثلي أكثر من 25 مؤسسة تعليمية عالمية أثناء تحدثهم حول كيفية كتابة بيان شخصي مقنع أو تمويل دراستهم. وسيحظى الطلاب أيضاً بفرصة مقابلة ممثلي الجامعات بصورة شخصية ومباشرة خلال الفعالية ومعرفة المزيد من المعلومات حول ما يلزم للحصول على قبول في أبرز جامعات العالم من أمثال جامعات ’أوكسفورد‘ و’إي تي إتش زيورخ‘ و’إتش إي سي باريس‘ و’هارفرد‘.

24 Septembre, Dubai, Emirats Arabes Unis: Panasonic Jaguar Racing annonce l’arrivée du champion de Formule E FIA dans l’équipe lors d’un événement  exclusif qui s’est tenu au siège du design de Jaguar.

Nelson Piquet Jr rejoindra les autres pilotes de Panasonic Jaguar Racing Mitch Evans et Ho-Pin Tung pour la deuxième saison de l’équipe en Formule E. La présence du champion en titre renforcera l’équipe pour la 4ème saison dès les premiers essais qui débuteront à Valence le mois prochain.

L’annonce a été faite au cours de l’évènement RE:CHARGE de Jaguar simultanément avec la présentation de la nouvelle monoplace de l’équipe. Ho-Ping Tung, 3ème pilote officiel et gagnant en LMP2 au Mans,a rejoint les hôtes Amanda Stretton et George Lamb pour dévoiler la Jaguar I-TYPE 2. Avec ses nouvelles couleurs dynamiques et un nombre important de mises à jour techniques, la Jaguar I-TYPE 2 entame un nouveau cycle d’évolution.

La présentation de la Jaguar I-TYPE 2 a eu lieu neuf jours après l’annonce du lancement du Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY, premier championnat international tout électrique pour voitures de série. Ce championnat qui viendra en soutien de la Formule E débutera fin 2018. Ces nouveaux développements confirment l’engagement à long terme de Jaguar pour le développement de véhicules électriques premium.

Suite à l’annonce du partenariat officiel de GKN la semaine dernière, l’équipe accueillait cette fois Viessmann, constructeur de systèmes industriels d’énergie et de refroidissement qui fera progresser la technologie et les performances de l’équipe en tant que partenaire officiel pour cette quatrième saison.

Au début du mois, Jaguar Land Rover a recruté une nouvelle génération d’ingénieurs en software et en électronique par le biais du défi de décryptage d’un code sur l’application Gorillaz.

First major cotton yarn plant in region comes to SOHAR Freezone

  • Cotton yarn plant to create 1,500 jobs as basis for a new textile hub

His Excellency Sultan Bin Salim Bin Said Al Habsi, Chairman of SOHAR Port and Freezone, led a high-level delegation from Oman to Jaipur, India yesterday. They met with ShriVallabh Pittie Group (SVP), one of the largest manufacturers of cotton yarn in India and a global leader in the sector.

A land lease agreement was signed to establish a new US$300 million plant in SOHAR Freezone to manufacture a wide range of cotton yarn, to be operated as SV Pittie Sohar Textiles FZC-LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Bombay listed SVP Global Ventures Ltd. The facility will eventually provide over 1,500 jobs and is expected to start commercial operations in late 2019.

Abdullah Humaid Al Mamary, Chairman of Bank Sohar, together with Acting-CEO Sasi Kumar and other senior officials from the bank, were also part of the delegation. Bank Sohar has been awarded the syndication mandate to fund the entire project in two phases. An agreement to this effect was entered into with SVP Group. The bank has currently underwritten phase-one debt, to achieve financial closure. On successful completion of phase-one, the bank plans to syndicate a term debt for phase-two, along with a share of phase-one debt, to interested lenders.

Commenting on the agreement, Sasi Kumar said: “We are honoured to be the finance partner for a project of this magnitude that is expected to have a significant impact on the development of the region. It demonstrates our commitment to collaborate as a one-stop financial services provider catering to the diverse needs of individuals and large corporate customers.”

The plant will import 100,000 metric tons of cotton fibre annually through SOHAR Port, with around 50% coming from the United States and the remainder split between Australia and India. The plant will produce around 75,000 tons of finished yarn each year, which will be exported back through the Port to China and other global markets including Bangladesh, Pakistan, Vietnam, Portugal and Turkey.

Chirag Pittie, SVP Group’s Managing Director said: “With over two-hundred years experience in the textile business, our company has a highly skilled and experienced management team with a strong focus on automation and technology. We source best-in-class machinery from leading global companies to ensure the highest levels of productivity and efficiency.”

The new SVP facility will be the first step in establishing a fully-fledged textile cluster in SOHAR Freezone. Downstream investments in knitting, weaving, spinning and fabric manufacturing could create a thriving industrial cluster providing thousands of new jobs for local households.

SOHAR Freezone CEO, Jamal Aziz, summed up when he said: “Today’s agreements showcase the great things we can offer to investors in SOHAR Freezone: the safest haven in the Middle East for foreign direct investment combined with high levels of government support; project financing with an Omani bank; 100% foreign ownership; our optimal location and seamless connectivity to key global markets through our adjacent port; highly competitive land and energy rates; and a young, well educated local workforce. Taken together, this is a sure fire recipe for business success.”

• باستثمارات تصل الى 300 مليون دولار أمريكي من كبارصانعي خيوط النسيج القطني في السوق الهندية على مساحة 27هكتار
• بنك صحار يقدم تمويلاً مشتركًا للمشروع
• 1500 فرصة عمل في مصنع انتاج خيوط نسج القطن الذي يمثل باكورة صناعات النسيج

ترأس معالي سلطان بن سالم بنسعيد الحبسى رئيس مجلس إدارة ميناء صحار والمنطقة الحرة بصحار يوم الجمعه الموافق 22 سبتمبر للعام2017 وفدًا يضم كبار المسؤولين في ادارة الميناء والمنطقة الحرة بصحار إلى مدينة جايبورالهندية، حيث التقى الوفد بمجموعة شري فالاب بيتي، وهي احد أكبرمصنعي خيوط نسيج القطن في الهند واحدى الشركات الرائدة عالميًا في هذا القطاع.

وتم خلال اللقاء توقيع اتفاقية تأجير أرض في المنطقة الحرة بصحار على مساحة ٢٧٠ ألف متر مربع بغرض إنشاء مصنع الاول من نوعه في المنطقة لتصنيع خيوط نسج القطن باستثمارات تقدر ب 300 مليون دولار أمريكي حيث ان الخيوط المنتجة تعد المادة الأساسية المستخدمة في صناعات النسيج. ومن المقرر أن يوفر هذاالمشروع مايقارب 1500 فرصة عمل بعد اكتمال كافة مراحله وبدءالتشغيل التجاري المتوقع في أواخر عام 2019، حيث ستتولى شركة إس في بيتي صحارللمنسوجات (ش.م.ح.ذ.م.م) تشغيل المصنع وهي شركة مملوكة بالكامل من قبل مجموعة شري فالاب بيتي جلوبال.

كما تم خلال الزيارة توقيع مستندات الإغلاق المالي للمشروع بين الشركة المستثمرة وبنك صحارالذي سيقوم بتوفير تمويل المرحلة الأولى من المشروع بموجب قرض قيمته ١٠٥مليون دولار بينما من المتوقع ان يتم تمويل باقي قيمة القرض بمشاركة جهات تمويلية اخرى. وتعقيبًا على الاتفاقية صرح ساسي كومار نائب الرئيس التنفيذي لبنك صحار: "إنه لشرف لنا أن نكون الشريك الممول لمشروع من هذا الحجم والذي من المنتظرأن يكون له أثر تنموي كبير على المنطقة ، وذلك انطلاقًا من التزامنا بدورنا كمزود خدمات مالية شاملة في تلبية مختلف احتياجات العملاء من الأفراد والشركات الكبرى".

هذا ومن المقرر استيراد حوالي ١٠٠ ألف طن من القطن الخام  سنوياً من خلال ميناء صحار، على ان تأتي نسبة 50% منه من الولايات المتحدة الامريكية بينما يتم استيراد الباقي من أستراليا والهند. وسيعمل المصنع على انتاج ٨٠ الف طن من خيوط النسيج القطني سنويا حيث سيتم تصدير المنتج النهائي من خلال الميناء إلى الصين وغيرهامن الأسواق العالمية مثل بنغلاديش وباكستان وفيتنام والبرتغال وتركيا لتغذية مصانع الأقمشة بمختلف أنواعها واستخداماتها.

وبهذه المناسبة قال شيراج بيتي المدير العام لمجموعة شري فالاب بيتي: "تمتلك شركتنا فريق إدارة على أعلى مستويات المهارة من خلال خبراتنا الطويلة التي تمتدإلى أكثر من مائتي عام في صناعة المنسوجات. وتضمن الشركة أعلى مستويات الجودة والإنتاجية من خلال ادخال أفضل التقنيات الحديثة واستعمال أفضل الآليات المستوردة من أكبر المصانع في العالم"كما عبر بيتي عن ارتياح وسعادة المجموعة لإقامة المشروع في سلطنة عمان والمنطقة الحرة في صحار خصوصا لما تتمتع به من بنية أساسية حديثة شاملة المنافع الرئيسية والحوافز الاستثمارية والموقع اللوجستي وخدمة العملاء المتميزة.

وجدير بالذكر أن المصنع الجديد سيمثل العنصر الأساسي في صناعات تحويلية عديدة كالنسيج والحياكة والغزل والأقمشة والملبوسات وما يترتب عنها من خلق فرص عمل عديدة للقوى العاملة الوطنية بالسلطنة.

AUC PROVIDES MORE THAN USD 23 MILLION IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO STUDENTS

September 20, 2017, Cairo –The American University in Cairo (AUC) has allocated over USD 23 million to provide students with a wide range of scholarships and financial assistance to help them in meeting the expenses of their education this academic year. According to Sohair Saad, executive director of the Office of Student Financial Affairs and Scholarships, over 45 percent of AUC students receive some form of financial assistance, either through scholarships or financial aid. “AUC is committed to offering a wide range of scholarships to students to provide them with an education that empowers them to create positive change in Egypt and the world,” said Saad. As for financial aid, AUC expects to provide needs based financial aid to over 2000 undergraduate students for the Fall Semester of 2017.  
Around 100 new students were accepted in full tuition scholarships this year in programs that include the Public School Scholarship Fund (PSSF); Empower Scholarship; Al Ghurair, Khalaf El Habtoor, Orascom Construction (OC) Scholarship, Mohamed Bin Abdulkarim A. Allehedan Endowed Scholarship and Scientific Research Fund, the USAID-funded Local Scholarship Program and other institutionally funded and donor/sponsor funded scholarships.

Many scholarships are offered to students with special qualifications, such as academic, athletic or cultural/ artistic talent and who demonstrate high financial need. AUC offers 66 types of undergraduate scholarships covered by the university and/or external individuals and corporations in order to assist students in meeting the expenses of their education.

For this academic year, AUC also offered five top students from Assiut, Beni Suef, Menya, Sohag and Fayoum governorates in Upper Egypt the opportunity to pursue an AUC undergraduate education in the major of their choice through the Empower Scholarship. Empower scholarship is open to students from both public and private high schools who have demonstrated involvement in civil society or community service, as well as a history of academic excellence.  

The University's Public School Scholarship Fund (PSSF), which is partially supported through the contribution of corporations and individuals, has been one of AUC’s most successful scholarship programs. PSSF scholarships provide funding annually for 20 new undergraduate students who have succeeded academically and have graduated from Egyptian public schools, but do not have the financial resources to attend AUC.  Effective this academic year, Experimental and STEM schools are also included in the scholarship. “Since the establishment of this program in 1990, it has provided more than 365 students with the opportunity to study at AUC. In fact, more than 55 percent of these students have graduated with distinction, receiving honors, high and highest honors,” noted Saad, “This year we are proud that AUC selected students from 15 different governorates.”

DGCX’s Dubai India Crude Oil Futures Named Best New Derivatives Contract by FOW Global Investor

The Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange’s Dubai India Crude Oil Futures (DICO) contract has been recognised as the ‘Best New Derivatives Contract’ at this year’s FOW Global Investor Asia Capital Markets Awards 2017.
The ceremony took place at the Marina Mandarin Hotel in Singapore and gathered the trading and derivatives industry's leading experts to receive awards highlighting innovation, excellence and outstanding performance over the past year.
The Best New Derivatives Contract award category is open to contracts that were launched between May 2016 and May 2017 and aims to recognize a futures or options contract that filled a market need in a novel and innovative way.
Gaurang Desai, Chief Executive Officer of the DGCX, attended the awards ceremony and commented on the win: “I am pleased to receive this award for the second consecutive year from FOW Global Investor on behalf of DGCX, this is a win for theentire DGCX community of members, traders and my colleagues at DGCX. DICO allows participants to trade in a Crude Oil Futures benchmark referencing the Indian Rupee, whilst trading in US Dollars, meaning that the benefits of the contract extend way beyond just local markets, providing access to key Indian markets.”
Paired with the DGCX’s existing INR currency suite and WTI offerings, the DICO futures contract draws a stronger appeal to existing contracts on other exchanges which are of a differing size. The DICO contract helps facilitate price discovery by new and existing market participants, offering protection and hedging opportunities to an increasingly motivated trading community.
The product design of DICO brings together both the DGCX WTI prices and the flagship USDINR contract. The launch of this product ensured members no longer needed to access multiple markets to trade, whilst also providing the additional benefits of margin offsets against existing DGCX contracts.
“At DGCX, we are committed to expanding our global reach by introducing innovative products that are relevant for our members, and being recognised for our efforts to do so is a motivation for us to continue focusing on our long-term goals,” Desai added.

HBMSU holds first Weekly Research Seminars

University committed to implementing research projects that support Dubai 10x initiative in context of future leadership

UAE, September 24, 2017- Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) recently marked an important step towards enriching  research and creative productivity by organizing its first-ever weekly research seminars with the participation of faculty and management members holding master and doctorate degrees in various fields and disciplines. The seminars aim to pave the way towards the establishment of a knowledge and research base that supports exploration and development for the future.

The weekly sessions also underline HBMSU's commitment to further stimulate scientific thinking, support creative grants, and provide a distinct perspective on the progress of knowledge for national and international communities, with a focus on promoting global understanding of research trends that can help improve the global competitiveness of the UAE.

Prof. Ahmed Ankit, Collaboration Research Director at HBMSU, said that the University continues to lead in research excellence as it recognizes the importance of research as a major force behind new knowledge-driven innovation, which in turn creates a solid foundation for economic development. Prof. Ankit explained that as part of its efforts to align its strategic objectives with UAE Vision 2021, HBMSU is committed to investing in research that supports the exploration and development for the future of strategic sectors in Dubai.

He said: “We intend to transform research seminars into an integrated platform for guiding the cumulative knowledge and research outputs of the faculty, management, and students to further consolidate excellence through scientific research, which is at the heart of scientific progress and economic growth.”

The first patch of research seminars featured a presentation from Prof. Ebrahim Soltani, Faculty Member of the School of Business and Quality Management, HBMSU, on the outcomes of his studies on Total Quality Management (TQM) standards in Supply Chain and the Management’s Orientations and Mindset for quality improvement initiatives and human resource management from quality and productivity perspectives.

Wali Allah Al-Bukhari, Senior Software Engineer, HBMSU, on the other hand, delivered a detailed presentation of his research findings on the design of Mobile learning frameworks and design considerations in developing mobile learning applications. Mr. Hamdy Abdelaziz, Chair of the Educational Leadership Department, HBMSU, also shared his research on smart pedagogy in technology-enhanced learning environments, innovation and excellence in a technology-rich environment, leadership in creating learning communities, and mobile learning design frameworks.

Another participant, Wissam Steitie, Director of Accessibility & Lifelong Learning Center in HBMSU, talked about Emiratization in the UAE’s private and government sectors, while Huda Al Tamimi, Director of Learner Relationship Management in HBMSU, delivered a presentation on best practices in smart education, ccross-cultural issues in women leadership development, and the application of TQM across sectors and cultures.

Prof. Steven Coombs, Director of Doctoral Program, HBMSU, also presented his ideas and research on smart education and leadership systems, smart pedagogy in technology-enhanced learning environments, innovation and excellence in a technology-rich environment, leadership in creating learning communities, and quality assurance and accreditation of smart education.

HBMSU is eager to participate in advanced research projects that put the Dubai 10x initiative in real and effective contexts. This is in accordance with the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of HBMSU, to move towards a leading future by implementing a radical shift from traditional business concepts, in keeping with the rapid changes taking place in the world. Through its research seminars, HBMSU looks forward to reviewing the consistency, accuracy and sound conclusions of the works of 62 distinguished researchers. The support of researchers from the UAE and abroad will be secured to stimulate scientific research and guide innovation to advance the transition to knowledge economies.

HBMSU’s weekly research seminars will focus on priority research areas that fall under the competencies of its three faculties: the School of Business and Quality Management, the School of Health and Environmental Studies, and the School of E-Education. These schools offer excellent programs for bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees. Research areas include innovation and excellence among educational leaders and innovative strategies for enhancing the UAE's global business competitiveness. They will also cover the quality of smart services and the sustainability of TQM in creative environments, quality of life, happiness, social welfare, knowledge management, pioneering leadership, Emiratization in the UAE’s Government and private sectors, smart human resource management, and smart logistics management particularly for Expo 2020.

Research areas will include smart health systems, health care ethics, innovation in public health management, best practices in e-education, leadership in educational community innovation, high-quality digital educational content, and innovation and excellence in technology-based environments, among others, as well.

The weekly research seminars are based on four main pillars of instilling a culture of serious scientific research among HBMSU employees and partners; promoting fruitful research cooperation with leading government entities and local, regional and international research, academic and educational institutions; aligning the research activities and educational outputs of faculty members and students involved with the university’s priority research areas; and establishing a highly qualified and experienced research team to advance the march to excellence led by the university as it spreads  a culture of smart learning and innovation and encourages scientific research across the Arab World.

الإمارات، 24 سبتمبر 2017 -عقدت "جامعة حمدان بن محمد الذكية"أولى حلقاتها البحثية الأسبوعية، وذلك بمشاركة أعضاء الهيئة التدريسية والإدارية من حملة الماجستير والدكتوراه في مجالات وتخصصات مختلفة، في خطوة رائدة على درب إثراء النتاج البحثي والإبداعي. وتهدف هذه الحلقات البحثية إلى تمهيد الطريق أمام إعداد قاعدة معرفية وبحثية تدعم مسيرة استشراف وصنع المستقبل، كما أنها تؤكد التزام الجامعة بمواصلة تحفيز التفكير العلمي والمنح الإبداعية وتوفير منظور متميز عن التقدم في المعرفة للمجتمعات الوطنية والدولية، مع التركيز على تعزيز الفهم العالمي للاتجاهات البحثية التي من شأنها الارتقاء بالقدرة التنافسية لدولة الإمارات عالمياً.

وأوضح البروفيسور أحمد عنكيط، مدير الأبحاث المشتركة في "جامعة حمدان بن محمد الذكية"، بأنّ الجامعة مستمرة في قيادة دفة التميز البحثي إيماناً منها بأهمية البحوث باعتبارها القوة الدافعة للمعارف الجديدة المحركة لعجلة الابتكار، الذي يخلق بدوره دعامة صلبة لتحقيق التنمية الاقتصادية. وأفاد عنكيط بأنّ الجامعة، في إطار مساعيها الحثيثة لمواءمة أهدافها الاستراتيجية مع "رؤية الإمارات 2021"، تضع نصب أعينها الاستثمار في المجالات البحثية ذات الأولوية التي تدعم جهود استشراف وصناعة مستقبل القطاعات الاستراتيجية في دبي. مضيفاً: "نعتزم تحويل الحلقات البحثية إلى منصة متكاملة لتوجيه المعارف التراكمية والمخرجات البحثية لأعضاء الهيئة التدريسية والإدارية والدارسين، في سبيل مواصلة ترسيخ التميز من خلال البحث العلمي، الذي يصب في صميم التقدم العلمي والنمو الاقتصادي."

وشهدت الحلقات البحثية الأولية مناقشة عرض عدد من العروض التقديمية قدمها كل من البروفيسور إبراهيم سلطاني، عضو هيئة التدريس في كلية إدارة الأعمال والجودة"، حول مخرجات دراساته البحثية في معايير إدارة الجودة الشاملة ومتطلبات جوائز التميز الخاصة بمبادرات تحسين الجودة وإدارة الموارد البشرية من منظور الجودة والإنتاجية، فيما قدم المهندس ولي الله البخاري، مهندس أول في البرمجيات، عرضاً مفصلاً حول نتائجه البحثية المتعلقة بأطر تصميم برمجيات التعلم عن بعد والاعتبارات التصميمية في تطوير تطبيقات التعلم بواسطة الوسائل النقالة. وقام البروفيسور حمدي عبد العزيز، رئيس قسم برنامج القيادة التربوية، بمناقشة أبحاثه في علم التربية الذكية في بيئات التعلم المعزز بالتكنولوجيا، والابتكار والتميز في البيئة الغنية بالتكنولوجيا، والقيادة في خلق مجتمعات التعلم إضافة إلى أطر تصميم التعلم النقال.

وشهدت الحلقات البحثية أيضاً مشاركة وســـام أســــتيتية، مدير إدارة استقطاب الدارسين ومركز التعلم مدى الحياة، شرحاً حول التوطين في القطاعين الخاص والحكومي في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة. وبدورها قدمّت هدى التميمي، مدير إدارة علاقات الدارسين، عرضاً حول أفضل الممارسات في التعليم الذكي، والقضايا المشتركة بين الثقافات في تنمية القيادات النسائية إضافة إلى تطبيق إدارة الجودة الشاملة عبر القطاعات والثقافات. كما عرض البروفسور ستيفن كومبس، مدير برنامج الدكتوراه، أفكاره وبحوثه في مجالات التعليم الذكي ونظم القيادة، وعلم التربية الذكية في بيئات التعلم المعزز بالتكنولوجيا، والابتكار والتميز في البيئة الغنية بالتكنولوجيا، والقيادة في خلق مجتمعات التعلم إضافة إلى ضمان جودة واعتماد التعليم الذكي.

وتحرص الجامعة على المشاركة في مشاريع بحثية متطورة تضع مبادرة دبي "10X"في سياقات حقيقية وفعلية، عملاً بتوجيهات سمو الشيخ حمدان بن محمد بن راشد آل مكتوم، ولي عهد دبي الرئيس الأعلى للجامعة، في الانطلاق بقوة نحو ريادة المستقبل عبر إحداث تغيير جذري في المفاهيم التقليدية في آليات العمل، بما يواكب المتغيرات التي يشهدها العالم. وفي إطار الحلقات البحثية، تتطلع الجامعة، في المرحلة الأولية، إلى استعراض ما توصل إليه 62 باحثاً من نتائج تتسم بملاءمة وصحة التفاصيل العلمية والاتساق والاستنتاجات السليمة، على أن يتم استقطاب مشاركة من الباحثين في دولة الإمارات وخارجها، سعياً وراء تحفيز البحث العلمي وتوجيه الابتكار والإبداع في خدمة مسيرة التحول إلى اقتصادات معرفية.

وتعتزم الجامعة مواصلة تنظيم الحلقات البحثية الأسبوعية، مع التركيز على المجالات البحثية ذات الأولوية، والتي تندرج تحت اختصاصات كلياتها الثلاث؛ "كلية إدارة الأعمال والجودة"و"كلية الدراسات الصحية والبيئية"و"كلية التعليم الإلكتروني". والتي تطرح برامج متميزة لنيل درجات البكالوريوس والماجستير والدكتوراه. وتشمل المجالات البحثية الابتكار والتميز لدى القيادات التربوية والاستراتيجيات المبتكرة لتعزيز تنافسية دولة الإمارات على خارطة الأعمال العالمية، فضلاً عن جودة الخدمات الذكية واستدامة إدارة الجودة الشاملة ضمن البيئات الإبداعية وجودة الحياة والسعادة والرفاه الاجتماعي وإدارة المعرفة والقيادة الريادية والتوطين في القطاعين الحكومي والخاص في الإمارات والإدارة الذكية للموارد البشرية والإدارة اللوجستية الذكية لـ "إكسبو 2020 دبي". وتغطي المجالات البحثية أيضاً النظم الصحية الذكية وأخلاقيات الرعاية الصحية والابتكار في إدارة الصحة العامة وأفضل الممارسات في التعليم الإلكتروني والريادة في ابتكار المجتمعات التعليمية، إلى جانب المحتوى التعليمي الرقمي عالي الجودة والابتكار والتميز في البيئات القائمة على التكنولوجيا وغيرها.

Company to showcase current portfolio of products aimed at building the networks of tomorrow

September 24, 2017 - Zyxel Communications, a world-class broadband networking company that provides leading Internet solutions for customers ranging from telecommunication service providers, has announced its participation at the 37th edition of GITEX Technology Week (GITEX 2017), an annual consumer computer and electronics trade show, exhibition and conference, which will be held from October 8 to October 12, 2017 at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). During the exciting five-day show, the company is set to launch its new Nebula Cloud Managed Platform, (NAP/NSW/NSG), which has been developed to help simplify configuration and management of networking equipment. Zyxel will also be unveiling    four new cloud-based smart antennas--WAC6502D-S, WAC6503D-S, NAP303 and the WAC5302D-S while also be showcasing its diverse portfolio of cloud-based and networking products, which are aimed towards building the networks of tomorrow. The move complements Zyxel’s continuous efforts to remain true to its mission to become ‘Your networking Ally.’  

According to the company, no software or hardware is needed to use the Nebula Cloud Managed Networking Platform--all users need to do is register their devices in the cloud via a browser or through the app and to perform the easy-to-follow configuration steps. The platform is a 100 per cent cloud management solution that eliminates complexity in the configuration and management of Wireless Access Points, Switching and Security Gateways. The platform features zero touch deployment, which allows easy access and control across all of the user's distributed network devices remotely from a single interface.

Meanwhile the WAC6502D-S, WAC6503D-S and the NAP303 are cloud-based antennas that have been designed to address the growing issues of density across a high number of connected devices and interference caused by increased Antenna Patterns (AP's). The new antennas make use of an intelligent algorithm that utilizes more than 700 optimized antenna patterns to give each connected device the optimum connectivity for the best user experience. The three cloud-based antennas boast of ultra-fast performance, which is ideal for high-density and interference prone environments. Lastly, the WAC5302D-S is a smart antenna that features an innovative compact design that can fit across almost any location, including wall plates. The unit can deliver fast and excellent performance along with wide coverage regardless of its positioning. The new model includes a three-port switch with the feature of powering an additional PoE device like a VoIP phone. It also has the ability of being deployed with Zyxel’s Zero touch (APFLEX) making deployment and control of the AP's effortless.

AECOsim Building Designer CONNECT Edition integrates the work of architects, structural engineers, and MEP engineers in a single application, and now extends its scalability by leveraging CONNECT Edition’s comprehensive modeling environment. The new release provides seamless, translation-free, intra-operability with Bentley’s full multi-discipline portfolio of design, analytical, and construction modeling applications.

All CONNECT Edition applications, including MicroStation CONNECT Edition, benefit from the deliverables production automation inherent in the CONNECT Edition’s documentation center. The documentation center greatly improves the consistency, quality, and efficiency of drawing set organization. AECOsim Building Designer also benefits from reality modeling, by which existing conditions are captured through photos and/or scans and converted into engineering-ready reality meshes with Bentley’s ContextCapture, bringing the actual geo-coordinated context directly into the AECOsim design environment.

In addition to highlighting its Digital Business Platform, and a range of Smart IoT solutions, Software AG will also focus on Virtual Reality (VR), Facial Recognition, and Smart Lighting. A kiosk will be available to visitors to experience learning in 3D, by using VR goggles, headphones and a controller. Visitors can perform a series of actions documented as an ARIS process, while learning new things in a 3D and fully sensory environment.

Through its participation at GITEX, Software AG will also promote its facial recognition technology, which is enriched with sensors and uses IoT to create experiences tailor made to each individual. The technology creates its content based on real-time analysis of multiple video streams. These streams, which include face detection technology, provide demographic information about the viewers, such as their age and gender. Facial detection also reveals a customer’s mood.  

Software AG has partnered up with Huawei to showcase how cities can become safer, better places to live, and while reducing their energy costs and increasing sustainability through their street lights, which represent a major part of a cities electricity usage and budget. Street lights are represented by smart lights and connected to a Huawei Gateway, through which the analytical engine of the Software AG Digital Business Platform runs predictive maintenance algorithms. The operator’s dashboard feeds him information on the exact local situation. For example, if lights run out of power, or glitches begin to appear, it is recognized by the analytical engine and automatic work orders are dispatched while the lights are switched to power saving mode to extend the life of the lights for as long as possible. This gives the technicians enough time to replace the faulty lights. Software AG’s Smart Lighting, is a lighting technology designed for energy efficiency. This may include high efficiency fixtures and automated controls that make adjustments based on conditions such as occupancy or daylight availability. It includes task lighting, accent lighting, and general lighting.


In today’s world, most organizations are open to the idea of digital transformation. Moving from analogue to digital, while using digital technologies to change the entire business model and provide new sources of revenue, is becoming a vital step for companies, as developments in innovation and technology continue to increase.
